July 9, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. The meeting was held at City Hall at 201
North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon, Barbara Collier, Iris Elliott, Betty Fuller,
Beth Gathings, James Gathings, Helen Gleghorn, Bill Golden, Peggy Vandiver, Norma Lively, David
Massey, Robert Nail, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Helen Voss and Mavy Wright.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to approve the minutes. Betty Fuller seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported that the balance on June 11, 2012 was $6,313.83. $17.95 was
reimbursed to Gary Parker for various Museum expenses. $17.50 was collected from the donation jar
making the balance on July 9, 2012, $6,313.38.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Barbara Collier, Norma Lively, Iris Elliott, Helen Payton and Peggy Vandiver volunteered to serve
as docents at open house on Saturday, July 14, 2012.
2. Helen Voss, Barbara Collier, Joe Cannon, Peggy Vandiver, Helen Gleghorn and Bill Golden
volunteered to docent at open house on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition Sub-Committee—Bill Byers:
• Betty Fuller will contact Ginger Fuller to see if Troy Fuller had military paraphernalia that can
be included in the display.
• Helen Voss offered to take donation forms to Judy Ricks to fill out for her donations.
• Staff will update the list of"help wanted" items with Betsy Deck.
• Bill Byers is working on acquiring a wooden propeller from an airplane flown by the "Flying
Tigers". The propeller has the "Flying Tigers" members' signatures on it.
• Shirley and Lynn Melson donated a 150 year old table that used to belong to Joe Whitener.

2. Museum Setup Sub-Committee—Helen Voss:
• Discussed the idea of moving some of the items displayed at the Library back to the Museum.
Bill Golden, Helen Voss and Betty Fuller will review the Library displays. Everyone agreed
items can be rotated in and out of the Library but that some items needs to remain at the Library
for advertising purposes.
• James Gathings donated a newspaper from 1889.
• A bible that once belonged to the Wiser's was recently acquired.
• The Mayor would like more information about Euless Trinity High School in the Museum. Betty
Fuller noted that Judy Ramos with the HEB-ISD may have old photographs of Trinity.
• Would like to include a section in the Museum for "significant moments in our nation's history".
Members thought this a good idea.
• Members thanked Gary Parker and Bill Byers for all their hard work at the Museum.
3. Evolving History Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier displayed photos of new buildings in Euless.
4. Scrapbook Project—Betty Fuller:
• Displayed the article about Iva and Robert Nails' 70th wedding celebration. She will include the
article in the scrap books.
• Thanked Helen Gleghorn, Joe Cannon and Billy Byers for their help in identifying different
locations and people in old photographs.
• City Secretary, Kim Sutter has boxes of articles from the 1980's to 2000.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Will contact the Greek Orthodox Church to see about getting a private tour of the new church.
2. Discussed that guns may be accepted as donations, however, Police will ensure all guns are
"secured" prior to their being included in the display.
3. Weldon Cannon is still working on the local marker applications for the Fuller House, Himes Log
House and McCormick Barn.
4. Indicated the idea of keeping the Plexiglas off the Fuller House windows. The house looks better
without them. Other members agreed.
5. Don Martin, Leah Bennett and Jan Bellamy reported they could not attend today's meeting.
STAFF
1. Thanked Mr. Nail for including the staff in their 70th anniversary celebration.
2. Reminded the members to fill out the correct form for either donations or loans. There are two
different forms.
OTHER REPORTS
1. The grand opening for the Greek Orthodox Church will on Saturday, July 14, 2012.
2. Barbara Collier reported that the City has files of all newspaper articles pertaining to Euless. She
will go through the files for information.

3. Clear plastic donation boxes are being ordered.
4. Joe Cannon inquired about security at the Museum. Members were confident that once security
cameras were installed, the Heritage location would be as secure as other historical locations.
5. Betty Fuller indicated that the thermostat at Fuller House should be set at 76 degrees at all times.
6. Robert Nail graciously thanked the staff, Bill Golden and the Committee for being a part of his and
Mrs. Nails' 70th anniversary celebration.
7. Mr. Nail also displayed the 1954-55 Almanac he previous discussed. It showed that Euless had 250
people living in it at the time of the census.
ADJOURNMENT
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Norma Lively seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:22 a.m.
