A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS
OF A SPECIAL CALLED ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 3, 2020, FOR
THE CONTINUATION OF THE EULESS CRIME CONTROL AND
PREVENTION DISTRICT FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY(20)YEARS AND
THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF THE ONE-QUARTER OF ONE
PERCENT SALES AND USE TAX FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY (20)
YEARS.
WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Euless, Texas, on November 3, 2020, an
election at which there was submitted to the duly qualified voters of the City of Euless,
Texas, for their action and vote a proposition on whether the Euless Crime Control and
Prevention District should be continued for twenty (20) years and the Crime Control and
Prevention District sales tax should be continued for twenty (20) years at a rate of one-
quarter of one percent; and
WHEREAS, there were a total of 24,182 voters at said election; and
WHEREAS, only duly qualified voters of the City of Euless, Texas, voted at said
election, and said election was called and held in strict conformity with the laws of the
State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 67.004 of the Texas Election Code, two members
of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, constitute a quorum for purposes of
canvassing an election.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
An election described in the preamble to this Resolution was duly called and notice
thereof given in accordance with the law; the said election was held in the manner
required by law; that only duly qualified voters of the City of Euless, Texas, voted at said
election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that
votes cast at said election on the proposed proposition were as follows:
PROPOSITION A
Whether the Euless Crime Control and Prevention District should be
continued for twenty (20) years and the Crime Control and Prevention
District sales tax should be continued for twenty (20) years.
FOR: 17,135
AGAINST: 4,722
UNDERVOTES: 2,325
The proposition was approved by a difference of 12,413 votes and was therefore
approved by the voters of the City of Euless, Texas.
SECTION 2.
Pursuant to Section 321.405 of the Tax Code requiring the governing body of the
municipality to declare the results in which the voters approve the adoption, change in
rate, or abolition of a tax authorized by Chapter 321, the City Council of the City of Euless,
Texas, canvassed the results of the election on November 12, 2020; and
SECTION 3.
The City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, hereby declares that the proposed
proposition has been properly and lawfully adopted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Secretary of the City of Euless, Texas,
shall send to the Comptroller of the State of Texas a certified copy of this resolution upon
its adoption, along with a map of the City of Euless clearly showing it boundaries.
PASSED AND APPROVED at a special called meeting of the City of Euless,
Texas, City Council on November 12, 2020, by a vote of 3 ayes, n nays, and
0 abstentions.
