HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-09-0653 Regular Meeting Board of Aldermen September 6, 1954 The Board of Aldermen of the Village of Euless met in regular session on September 6, 1954. Present were Mayor J. J. Umphress and Aldermen A. E. Tillery, Ernest Millican, Jr., W. H. Fuller, M. L. Anders, and J. S. Anderson. Minutes of the previous meetings on July 26, 1954, August 14, 16, and 23, 1954, were read and unanimously approved. Ordinance Nos. 22 through 25 were adopted in numerical order, each one have been duly read, studied, discussed, and voted on separately. Ordinance No. 22 changes the Village of Euless to the City of Euless. Motion for adoption was made by Alderman Ernest Millican, Jr., Alderman M. L. Anders seconded the moiton. The vote was unanimously i n favor. (Copy of Ordinance No. 22 on f i I e i n Office of City Secretary.) Ordinance No. 23 provides for the staggered system of electing councilmen beginning in 1955. Motion for adoption was made by Alderman A. E. Tillery with second by Alderman W. H. Fuller. The vote was unanimously in favor. (Copy of Ordinance No. 23 on file in 0 f f ice of City Secretary.) Ordinance No. 24 provides that al city officials and agents, except the mayor and councilmen, shall be appo n t i v e instead of elective. Motion for adoption was made by Alderman M. L. Anders. Alderman W. H. Fuller offered a second. The vote was unanimously in favor. (Copy of Ordinance No. 24 on f i l e in Office of City Secretary.) Next a peition requesting annexat on. of certain tracts of land to the City of Euless was taken under consideration. This petition was presented by owners of said tracts which lay along either side of Highway 183 and west of Farm Road 157, as duly shown and described by attached plat and field notes. After due discussion and consideration of the matter, on motion by M. L. Anders and second by Ernest Millican, Jr., Ordinance No. 25 was adopted by unanimous vote of the Council. This ordinance duly annexes the territory in question. (Copy of Ordinance No. 25, plat of the area, and field notes are on file in Office of City Secretary.) By unanimous consent of the council, Mayor Umphress was authorized to have a detailed map of the city arranged. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. /s/ J. S.
