September 10, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:06 a.m. The meeting was held at Euless City Hall,
201 North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Jan Bellamy, Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon
Cannon, Barbara Collier, Betty Fuller, Helen Gleghorn, Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Don Martin, Robert
Nail, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford, Peggy Vandiver and Mavy Wright.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Under other reports, item #4, Weldon Cannon noted that "site" should be used instead of"sight." Mr.
Cannon made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction. Norma Lively seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported that the balance on August 13, 2012 was $6,329.38. $19.26 was
collected from the donation jar making the balance on September 10, 2012, $6,348.64. It was also
reported that $54 was collected from the new donation box at the museum.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Over two-hundred people toured the museum at the grand opening on September 8, 2012.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition—Bill Byers reported that many new items have been acquired including an old 1930's
Maytag washer.
2. Library History—Betty Fuller indicated a problem with the original artist who worked on the library
tile project. New artists are being considered to take over the project.
3. Photography/ Website Sub-Committee—Michele Burger replaced the Library photo display with a
photo of the old Mosier Valley School building and a photo of the building as it looks today.
4. Oral History—Ofa Mary thanked Betty Fuller for turning in the final draft of Jimmy Payton's
interview. She will have the interview uploaded to the website.

5. Evolving History Sub-Committee—Veva Lou Massey volunteered to chair the sub-committee. Bill
Byers took photos of the property at the southwest corner of Hwy. 10 and Cullum Drive for the
records. The Sikh Temple will be building on the property. Workers have begun clearing the
location.
6. Euless Marker Program—Weldon Cannon:
• Is acquiring a local marker for the Cannon House.
• Is working on the text for the Fuller House, Himes Log House and McCormick Barn.
• Spoke with the foundry and the total cost for the medallion plaque and descriptive plaque is
5801.39.
• Would like to make changes to the Local Marker brochure and will meet with staff
• Inquired if the markers can be purchased on a tax exempt basis.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Bill Golden reported the following:
• Helen Voss couldn't attend today's meeting.
• Has made several attempts to contact the Sikh Temple for permission to use metal detectors on
the property at the southwest corner of Hwy. 10 and Cullum. The property is where the very first
Euless School once stood. Bill Byers and David Parker volunteered to go with Bill Golden.
• Reported that he and his grandson found film inside an old camera at the Museum. He contacted
Wolf Camera and they may still be able to develop the photos. He will take the camera in soon.
• Thanked the members of the Set Up Sub-committee for their hard work.
• Asked for ideas of things to put on the shelves in the Fuller House "den".
• A historical wish list has been posted at the Museum.
• Gave a reminder about the "Empowering Seniors" event on October 5, 2012 at First Baptist-
Euless. The City will have a booth at the event; if the Committee would like, staff can hand out
historical information for them.
• Discussed that 1990 would be the cutoff year of service for photos of military veterans to be
included in the Wall of Honor at the Museum.
• Spoke with the coordinator of the IB program at Trinity High School about having their students
serve as docents during open house. The teacher was very interested in working with the
Committee.
• In contact with a band called Buttermilk, who plays old music. He would like to have them play
at one of the Committee's event.
OTHER REPORTS
1. Bill Byers and Council Member Leon Hogg would like a "marker" for the museum building. Norma
Lively completed research and gave Bill Golden abstracts on the building. Mrs. Fuller has copies of
1850's court documents on the sale of the property. These can be used for a description plaque for
the building.
2. Betty Fuller noted that the old crib inside the front bedroom is a loan item.
3. Weldon Cannon expressed his approval of incorporating the Camp Bowie connection to the
McCormick Barn in the historical presentations at Heritage Park. Several members thought it very
important to include the McCormick Barn ties to Camp Bowie.

4. Barbara Collier put together beautiful displays of all the items found when the Himes Log House
was moved from its original location. Members were very complementary of the work she did.
5. Betty Fuller asked for more "How We Lived" brochures. Staff will have more printed.
6. Faye Stinneford gave a reminder about the Police Academy's fundraiser on September 22, 2012 at
the Euless Senior Center.
2. Mavy Wright thanked Ofa Mary for working on the display signs for the Museum.
3. Robert Nail spoke with emotion about his trip to Washington DC. The members were very happy
Mr. Nail was able to take the trip.
4. Peggy Vandiver encouraged everyone to go see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit in Fort Worth.
5. Michele Burger:
• Indicated that her uncle from New York was once stationed at Camp Bowie. She has a letter
from him to her aunt that may have been written around the time he was at Camp Bowie.
• Thanked Facility Maintenance for their hard work in getting the Museum ready for opening day.
• Continues to display Euless information and brochures at Grapevine.
ADJOURNMENT
Norma Lively made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Perry Brockmeyer seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
