Minutes
October 8, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. The meeting was held at Euless City Hall,
201 North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon, Iris Elliott,
Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Don Martin, Shirley Mercer, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford,
Helen Voss and Mavy Wright.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

STAFF PRESENT
Michael Davenport, Recreation Superintendant
Ofa "Mary" Faiva-Siale, Projects Coordinator
Ray McDonald, Director of Parks and Community Services
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Faye Stinneford made a motion to approve the minutes. Helen Voss seconded the motion. Motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
No treasurer report was available.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. The following volunteered to serve as docents during open house on October 13, 2012: Michele and
Dan Burger, Iris Elliott, Joe Cannon, Bill Byers, Helen Payton, Weldon Cannon and Bill Golden.
2. Bill Golden discussed the following elementary school tours. Tours will be from noon until 2 p.m.
a. South Euless—October 17, 2012. Perry Brockmeyer, Michele Burger and Helen Payton will
docent.
b. Midway Park—November 6, 2012. Doris Brown, Helen Payton, Perry Brockmeyer, Iris Elliot
and Bill Byers will docent. Bill Golden may be late due to a doctor appointment.
c. North Euless—November 7, 2012. Norma Lively, Michele Burger, Helen Voss, Joe Cannon, Iris
Elliott, Bill Golden and Perry Brockmeyer will docent.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition—Bill Byers indicated that quite a few items have been acquired for the museum.
2. Display Signs—Mavy Wright and staff are working on signs on an ongoing basis.
3. McCormick Barn—Several members will work on the cow panel and other displays soon.

4. Museum Set Up—The Sub-committee has been working on several projects including a Wall of
Honor honoring those who served in the military. In addition, another wall will say "Some Gave
All", honoring eleven people who died while on active duty.
5. Euless Marker Program—Weldon Cannon indicated the following:
• Is ready to order the marker for the Cannon House. Mr. Cannon will write a check to the City
and the City will purchase the marker for Mr. Cannon.
• The City offered to pay for a marker for the Ruth Millican Center.
6. Fuller House Museum—Bill Golden asked for items to display in the Fuller House Den.
CHAIMAN'S REPORT
1. Indicated that Jan Bellamy, Betty Fuller and Barbara Collier reported they could not attend today's
meeting.
OTHER REPORTS
1. The following members reported the following:
• Norma Lively has an inkwell she will donate.
• Faye Stinneford reminded everyone of the "Crud" event on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
• Shirley Mercer donated a binder with information about the USS Johnston.
• Perry Brockmeyer discussed the 22"d Annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering from October 26
to 28, 2012. He noted that this is an "authentic" cowboy event, with a cattle drive, cook out, etc.
2. Weldon Cannon indicated the following:
• Attended the funeral of the youngest daughter of Alfred Whitener, an early school teacher in the
early 1900's. He is working on acquiring some material regarding Mr. Whitener.
• Discussed the need to have brochures about Euless distributed for display at welcome centers
around the state. Staff will look into related costs for the project.
3. Michele Burger reported the following:
• Has been taking Euless brochures to display in Grapevine.
• Had an uncle who was stationed at Camp Bowie in the early 1900's. He may have written letters
to his wife who lived in New York while he was at Camp Bowie. Mrs. Burger plans to donate
some items to the Museum.
• Changed the photograph display at the Library.
ADJOURNMENT
Don Martin made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Faye Stinneford seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
