Dear Citizens,
Our local elections have been decided. Let me first thank each and every citizen who voted. I am humbled and thankful that you have once again placed your trust in me. I truly love this City and all of our residents. I am pleased to welcome back Jeremy Tompkins and Perry Bynum as well. In addition, the CCPD sales tax was renewed for another twenty years. Proposition B also passed, which was initiated by a citizen petition early in 2020.
I think we all agree that 2020 has been an especially tough year and that we are glad to see it in the “rearview mirror.” Now is the perfect time to focus on actions that improve our mental, emotional and physical health. Enhancing our wellbeing may be as simple as reading a library book, joining an online class, volunteering for a good cause, talking to a trusted friend or meditating in a city park.
Of course, physical activity benefits all areas of our lives. Check out the amenities that the City of Euless has to offer. The Raven’s Grille even has delicious menu options to support healthy-eating goals. Let’s make 2021 the best year yet!
Annual Sanitary SewerImprovements Begin in January
While replacing Wastewater Mains, also known as Sanitary Sewer lines, may not exactly
seem glamorous, we all want them to function properly. Each year, the Euless Public Works
Department plans and budgets for the systematic replacement of wastewater mains throughout
Euless to reduce maintenance costs and customer problems. The wastewater mains included
in this project are part of the City of Euless Wastewater System Master Plan.
They do their best to minimize impact to homeowners during construction, but some temporary
inconveniences may occur as work takes place. Residents will be notified in advance before
the work begins. Areas affected by this work will be in our utility easement located in the
backyards of homes.
These improvements will utilize a process called Pipe Bursting. This method installs a new
pipe inside of the existing sewer pipe underground. The old pipe is broken up and the new
pipe fills in the existing space. Even though this eliminates the need for open trench work,
some digging will still be required to tie into the owner’s service line.
This year’s annual project will be rehabilitating sanitary sewer main between Crane Dr. and
Donley Dr. from Harwood Rd. to Aransas Drive and between Ector and Fayette Dr. from
Lamar Dr. to Ector Dr. As well as between N. Main St. and Salem Dr. from Town Creek to
SH 183. Construction will begin in January and should be completed in early April.

October The Historic Tree Groveat the Preserve at McCormick Park2005 Fuller Wiser Rd.
There’s never been a better time to get out and explore Euless’ many parks. Did you know that the Preserve at McCormick Park (which also serves as an environmental outdoor learning center) has one of the most unique tree
features in the Metroplex? The Historic Tree Grove features famous trees. That’s right, famous. The trees were
all grown from seedlings and cuttings of trees with historical lineage such as a Red Oak from the Alamo, one of
President Carter’s Slash Pine and a Dwight D. Eisenhower Persimmon. There’s even an apple tree with origins
that trace back to, you guessed it, Johnny Appleseed.
The historic tree grove also pays homage to our own Euless history with a fig tree from the Byers Lumber Yard,
a magnolia tree from the historic Fuller House and an Elisha Adam Euless post oak.
After visiting the historic tree grove, take a stroll down the trail with markers highlighting the native species of trees along the way, sink a hook in one of the two ponds and take advantage of the fishing pier while you’re at it.
About the Preserve at McCormick Park
The park was designed in 2004 using the imaginations of 75 children of various ages in Euless schools. They gave
input about the features they wanted to see in a park during after-school brainstorming sessions. It was dedicated
in 2005 and also serves as a field trip location for 4th graders in HEB ISD. It incorporates hands-on learning
experiences into their science curriculum that can’t be replicated in the classroom.
