Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of
September 6, 2012. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Chris McAllister seconded the
motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed all of the visitors to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Reviewd library stats.
New Employee: Kimberlee Flint, PT Library Assistant in Youth Services. She has a Master Education degree
in Education, has worked as a teacher, and as a Youth Assistant in another public library.
The library recently underwent a major computer upgrade, which has resulted in an increase in Internet speed.
Friends of the Library Book Sales is scheduled for October 12-14.
The Euless Library Foundation has decided to cancel the contract for the tile project that has been moving ever
so slowly for nearly 4 years. Sandra Crowley is trying to contact the artist to inform her of this decision. They
have located a local artist, Lisa McNamara, who is already busy working on tiles for the project. The
Foundation is encouraged with this new artist and anticipates that the project will be completed sometime in
2013.
Kate mentioned continued frustration with e-book products.
HEBISD has decided they can no longer supply the library with a copy of their textbooks. This is very
unfortunate decision as the textbooks were heavily used here. All the textbooks have been picked up by the
school district and will not be replaced.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee mentioned the Euless Library Foundation receptions at Frances Allen's home. He
also shared that the Foundation is encouraged with the progress that the new tile artist is showing.
2. Allan Gibbs recently visited the Cimarron,NM public library. This is a small library that provides
bookmobile service to its rural population.

3. Loretta Doty inquired if books are really being challenged/censored still in some communities. Kate
responded with yes, it does still happen but thankfully books are seldom questioned in Euless.
4. Barney Snitz mentioned the open house at the Police and Fire Department. He also said his
experience with Access Euless has been excellent.
CITIZEN INPUT:
1. Councilman Leon Hogg commented on:
a. Gary McKamie did an excellent job at the recent State of the Cities breakfast.
b. Urban Lofts project
c. Aquatics Center
d. Riverwalk project
2. LuAnn Portugal mentioned this week is Customer Service Appreciation Week and how much she
appreciates the excellent customer service the library staff provides. Beverly Leake suggested that the
Board do something nice for the staff in recognition. It was quickly decided that the Board would bring
a cake in for the staff. Beverly volunteered to pick up and deliver the cake.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Beverly Leake and seconded by
Loretta Doty. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20pm.
