Minutes
January 14, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:04 a.m. The meeting was held at Euless City Hall,
201 North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon, Barbara
Collier, Iris Elliott, Betty Fuller, Bill Golden, Norma Keplinger, Norma Lively, Don Martin, David
Massey, Robert Nail, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford, Peggy Vandiver and Mavy Wright.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to approve the minutes. Perry Brockmeyer seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported the beginning balance on December 10, 2012 was $11,449.47.
There was a deposit of$33. The balance as of January 14, 2013 is $11,482.47.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Spring Garden Elementary school toured the facility on January 8, 2013. There were one-hundred
and three people.
2. Nineteen people were at Heritage Park for open house on Saturday, January 12, 2013. The majority
of the people in attendance were committee members. David Massey's family also toured the
facility. Members discussed the need for better advertisement of the museum.
3. Meadow Creek Elementary will tour the facility on January 17, 2013. It's projected to be a cold day.
A question about where the students can eat their lunch during inclement weather was asked. The
possibility of canceling the tour was mentioned.
4. Perry Brockmeyer, Barbara Collier, Bill Golden and Doris Brown volunteered to serve as docents
during the Oakwood Terrace Elementary school tour on January 30, 2013.

5. Iris Elliott, Gary Parker, Bill Byers, Barbara Collier, David & Veva Lou Massey, Leah Bennett,
Norma Lively, Peggy Vandiver, Helen Payton, Doris Brown and Mavy Wright volunteered to docent
during open house on Saturday, February 9, 2013.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. A video presentation about the late Council Member Donna Mickan was played. Members shared
their memories and expressed their appreciation of Mrs. Mickan.
2. Bill Golden welcomed new committee member, Norma Keplinger to the committee.
3. Acquisition Sub-committee—members are still interested in acquiring a plastic, life size horse to
display the fly net on.
4. McCormick Barn—the sub-committee will work on the Barn display in March.
5. Historical Tile Project—a new artist has been acquired and the tile project is moving along much
quicker now.
6. Euless Marker Program—Weldon Cannon discussed the following:
• The Cannon House marker is still at the foundry.
• A question was asked whether a local foundry can be used. Mr. Cannon and others were
agreeable to the idea.
7. Fuller House—Barbara Collier and Mavy Wright took down the Christmas decorations.
8. Calloway Cemetery—Bill Byers reported the following:
• A cement slab has been poured under the tabernacle.
• A brick backdrop has also been built and new benches have been installed.
• Members who have seen the cemetery were very complimentary of the way it looks.
• The old cemetery sign may be moved and installed at Heritage Park.
• Thanked the Parks Department for helping clean the cemetery.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Reported that the refrigerator in the Museum was out during open house.
STAFF REPORTS
1. Betsy Deck gave a presentation about the City's new recycling program. She discussed costs,
displayed different recycling bins, etc. She also asked for nominations for volunteer of the year.
2. Suzanne Hendrickson discussed the previously requested blinds for the front entrance of the
Museum. Members indicated their preference and staff will have the blinds installed.
3. Jan Bellamy and Leah Bennett called in, they couldn't attend today's meeting.
OTHER REPORTS
1. Several members discussed the need for more advertisement about Heritage Park:
• Some members indicated that visitors have mentioned that they've lived in Euless for years but
never knew about the Museum.

• Some felt it a waste of time for members to be onsite if there weren't more people touring the
facility.
• Some asked if the old open house signs could be put out at various locations again. The signs
could also be placed at the front of the property during open house.
• Some inquired if open house was being advertised in Euless Today and the water bill.
• A suggestion was made that a flyer could be posted at the Euless Family Life Center, Senior
Center, etc. regarding open house.
• The idea of posting an ad in the Community Activities section in the Star Telegram the week
leading up to open house was discussed.
• Iris Elliott would like a sign on the building so people will know it's a museum instead of a
church.
• A sub-committee was established to look into other advertising methods. Michele Burger,Nouiia
Keplinger, Peggy Vandiver, Iris Elliott and Perry Brockmeyer volunteered to serve on the Sub-
committee with Barbara Collier as Chairperson.
2. Council Member Leon Hogg acquired two more display cases for the Museum.
3. Joe Cannon reported that Helen Gleghorn fell and will need about six weeks to recover. Members
expressed concern for Mrs. Gleghorn.
4. Weldon Cannon donated a 1973 calendar that had the Euless Feed Store name on it.
ADJOURNMENT
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Gary Parker seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
