MEMBERS STAFF OTHERS Marcia Brown Sherry Knight LuAnn Portugal Loretta Doty Karan Jasper Leon Hogg Betty Fuller-ill Jan Hogg Allan Gibbs Beverly Leake Chris McAllister-absent Mike McGehee Barney Snitz Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of April 4, 2013 meeting. Beverly Leake made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan Gibbs seconded the motion. WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed all of the visitors to the meeting. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: Sherry Knight reviewed the library stats with the board members. National Library Week was very successful with interaction activity with the patrons. "Blind Date With A Book"was also successful and we are keeping the display up through May. April 13 was the last day for the AARP Income Tax Service. There are 131 sites in the area that offer this service. The Euless Public Library is rated 13th in preparation of taxes for the community. In May we will be gearing up for the Summer Reading Program. Angela Jones, Youth Librarian, is connecting with the schools. The Youth Department has been invited by Oakwood Terrace, Lakewood, and Bear Creek to come and talk about the Summer Reading Program. Angela will also have a table setup on May 18th for the movie in the park with the Parks Department. On May 4th in the library we will be celebrate Star Wars with"May The 4th Be With You." We will have Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, a photo booth, crafts, and snacks for everyone to enjoy. DISCUSSIONS: 1. Beverly Leake reported on the status of the retirement gift for Kate. The artist, Andrew Wilks, will ship "To Protect and Serve" in June. 2. Barney Snitz commented on the Christopher McGuire and Alex Harvey programs. 3. Allan Gibbs reported the Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale is May 17, 18, and 19. 4. Marcia Brown reported that the HEBISD Retired Teachers distributed over 2000 books to students. Main Street ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by Barney Snitz.
