HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-01-251 V �+ Regular Meeting - Euless,City Council January 25, 1972 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was called to order at 8:00 P. M. in the Council Chambers of Euless City Hall, with Mayor A. C. Krause presiding. Members present were Councilmen Frank Douglass, Harold Copher, and Don Warren. (Absent were Councilman Dan Shull, in the hospital; and Councilman Dwayne Wilcox.) Also present were City Manager C. J. Griggs, City Secretary Vada Ferris, City Attorney James Cribbs, and C i t y Engineer B i l l Ratliff. VISITORS Mr. Les Thomas. INVOCATION Attorney James Cribbs. APPROVAL CF MINUTES Vi,s i tors were Mr. Charles Page and The invocation was presented by City Minutes of the Regular Meeting dated January 11, 1972 were approved as written. ORDINANCE No. 419- FINAL READING - APPROVING CERTAIN READING - APPROVING CERTAIN RATE SCHEDULES FILED BY TEXAS POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY Councilman Douglass moved to approve Final reading of Ordinance No. 419 approving certain rate schedules filed by Texas Power and Light Company. Councilman Copher seconded the motion and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Douglass, Copher, and Warren Nays: None Mayor Krause declared the motion carried. SWIMMING POCL BIDS Mayor Krause announced that one bid had been received on January 20, 1972 for the construction of two swimming pools; the bid was submitted by Pascal P. Paddock in the amount of $260,500.00, which is in excess of the funds budgeted. 184' (Page Two, Minutes of Regular_ Meeting, Euless City Council, January 25, 1972) Councilman Douglass moved to reject the bid submitted by Pascal P. Paddock because of the excessive amount beyond the budgeted funds. Councilman Warren seconded the motion and the vote i s as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Douglass, Warren, and Copher Nays: None Mayor Krause declared the motion carried and instructed the City Engineer to attempt negotiations for pool construction. RESOLUTION NO. 300 GRANTING PERMISSION TO TEXAS MSLEYAN COLLEGE TO CONDUCT A COMMUNITY SURVEY City Manager Griggs stated he recommends the Council approve. Resolution No. 300 allowing a community study by Texas Wesleyan College, which is sponsored by the Hurst - Euless' - Bedford Chamber of Commerce. Councilman Copher moved to concur with the recommendation of the City Manager and approve Resolution No. 300. Councilman Warren seconded the motion and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Copher, Warren, and Douglass Nays: None Mayor Krause declared the motion carried.
