The Parks Maintenance Team
Gets Innovative
It takes creativity and innovation to maintain Euless' recreational facilities. Members
of the Euless Parks and Community Services Department (PACS) excel at finding
innovative ways to solve problems and create enhancements at City facilities. For
instance, they also decorated the lazy river in the Aquatics Park by creating their own
metal fish sculptures. To encourage residents to compost Christmas trees, they built
the character, Compost Charlie, instead of buying something already fabricated.
After watching contractors install pour -in -place, recycled rubber surfaces, Parks
and Community Services employees figured out a way to do it themselves. They
recently installed the cushiony rubber surface in the sidewalk areas by the Carr Park
playground. Moreover, they plan to use the same product when they replace/add more
exercise stations at Bob Eden Park.
Doing the work themselves, instead of hiring contractors or purchasing pre -fabricated
items is a winning solution for everyone. It allows Parks and Community Services
employees to customize their projects, to meet the needs of Euless residents and it
saves taxpayer money.

Neighborhood Watch
One way the City of Euless helps to prevent crime is
by providing the resources for Neighborhood Watch
groups. Neighborhood Watch educates participants
in crime deterrence principles. The program depends
on a communication network, organized with three
levels of participants: Residents, Block Captains and
Local Law Enforcement Representatives. By reducing
opportunities for crime, looking out for neighbors and
acting as extra eyes and ears for the Police Department,
Neighborhood Watch members can improve the quality
of life in their community.
To report suspicious behavior, please call the Police
Department at 817-685-1500. For more information
on the Neighborhood Watch, contact Sergeant Rocky
Fimbres at 817-685-1685.
El Camino Real Sanitary
Sewer Project
The El Camino Real Sanitary Sewer project will replace
1,713 linear feet of sewer pipe along El Camino Real
between Sotogrande Blvd. and Woodvine Dr.
Each year, the Euless Public Works Department
proactively plans and budgets for the systematic
replacement of sanitary sewer mains throughout Euless
to reduce maintenance costs and potential problems for
residents.
Older wastewater lines and are susceptible to ground
movement, root infiltration and general deterioration
over time. These improvements will utilize a process
called Pipe Bursting. This method installs a new pipe by
pulling it through the existing sewer pipe underground.
The old pipe is broken up and the new pipe fills in the
existing space. Even though this eliminates the need for
open trench work, some digging will still be required to
tie into each individual owner's service line.
The El Camino Real Sanitary Sewer project is part of
the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) budget. The
CIP is a comprehensive look at identified capital needs
throughout the City. It is updated annually to help the
Euless City Council identify immediate needs as well as
long-term capital needs. There are five basic project types
that fall within the CIP: drainage, streets, wastewater,
water and other. This plan is a working blueprint for
maintaining and improving Euless' infrastructure.
