HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-11-09Regular Meeting Euless City Council November 9, 1976 CALL TO ORDER N° 85 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was called to order at 8 :00 P. M. in the Council Chambers of Euless City Hall by Mayor Harold Samuels. Members present were Mrs. Willie Mae McCormick, Messrs. Glenn Walker, Ray Ozebek, and Robert Pippin. (Absent: Mr. Charles Hunt.) Also present were City Manager W. M. Sustaire, City Secretary Della Houy, City Engineer B i l l Flowers, and City Attorney Bob McFarland, VISITORS Visitors present are as follows: Messrs. Michael H. Patterson, and H. M. Smith; and Miss Kathleen Brown. INVOCATION The invocation was given by Mrs. Willie Mae McCormick. APPROVAL CF MINUTES The minutes of the regular meeting dated October 26, 1976 were approved as written. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CITY VEHICLES City Manager Sustaire stated he is re- questing authorization to advertise for bids for eight (8) vehicles in the Police Department and one (1) vehicle in the Warrant Division and three (3) City pick -ups. Mr. Ozebek moved to authorize the City Manager to advertise for bids for twelve (12) City vehicles to be approved at the December 14th meeting. Mrs. McCormick seconded the motion and the vote i s as follows: Ayes: Mr. Ozebek, Mrs. McCormick, Messrs. Pippin, and Walker Nays: None Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried. N° 86 (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, November 9, 1976) RESOLUTION NO. 393, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO PURCHASE COMMUNICATION MONITORING AND RECORDING EQUIPMENT Mr. Walker moved to approve Resolution No. 393, authorizing the City to purchase communication monitoring and recording equipment. Mr. Pippin seconded the motion and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Messrs. Wai,ker, Pippin, Ozebek, and Mrs. McCormick Nays: None Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried. DISBANDING CODE AND ORDINANCE REVISION COMM ITTEE Mr. Pippin moved that the Council disband the Code and Ordinance Revision Committee. Mr. Ozebek seconded the motion and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Messrs. Pippin, Ozebek, Walker, and Mrs. McCormick Nays: None Mayor Samuels declared the motion carried. IV CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT Mr. McFarland stated he made his report on the status of pending litigation at the pre - council meeting. CITY ENGINEERS REPORT V Miscellaneous Water and Sewer Irrprovements Mr. Flowers stated the project is 95% complete with 65% of contract time being used. He stated the only remaining water lines to be installed is approximately 1600 feet along Harwood Road and a 48 inch concrete pipe i,n the open cut to finish the bore under FM157. He stated the contractor has run a test on all lines on North Main, Glade Road, and Field -Doss Road. N° 87 (Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, November 9, 1976) Chlorination Facilities Mr. Flowers stated the contract is 50% complete and the contractor has used 86% of contract time. He stated the building is 100 %complete, plumbing is 70 %complete, electrical is 50% complete, and pump and chlorination is 0% complete. Mr. Flowers stated that all the equipment is here and the contract should be complete by December 1, 1976. Additional Water Studies Mayor Samuels inquired if any of the cities have requested his firm to do additional water studies on water extensions such as the study done for the HUD grant last year. Mr. Flowers stated no. Mayor Samuels stated that Mr. John Andrews, Mayor of Colleyville, one of the five cities, wanted the cities to reapply for simi 1 iar funding th is year i n the county wide consortium. Mayor Samuels stated he told him that Euless would go along on a new study. He stated if it was the consensus of the Council, they would reapply for additional money through the Tarrant County Consortium for additional water study. VI CHANGE OF MEETING TIME Mayor Samuels stated that the time for t h e Council meeting on November 23rd w i l l be changed to 7:00 P.M. to allow persons to attend the community Thanksgiving services.
