Called Meeting
Euless City Council
June 9, 1955
The Council met in special session at
7:30 P.m., June 9, 1955• Present were Mayor Jimmy Payton, and Councilmen
A. E. Tillery, Ernest Millican, Jr., W. H. Fuller, and J. S. Anderson.
Also present were R. W. Fuller of Euless and C. H. McNeese of Hurst.
The specific purpose of the meeting was
to consider a proposal by the Hurst Chamber of Commerce whereby the cities
of Hurst and Euless would cooperate in inducing the City of Fort Worth to
withdraw their city limits from their present location on Pipeline Road to
a point further south, possibly the Trinity River, and thence to the airport.
In discussing the matter Mr. Fuller and
Mr. McNeese informed the council that various industrial firms are interested
in locating in the area involved and in view of this fact the City of Fort
Worth has indicated a willingness to alter their lines, as indicated above,
thus making the area available for Hurst or Euless corporate action. However,
it was made plain that the City of Fort Worth would not make such adjustments
unless the cities of Hurst and Euless agreed in writing that neither would
make any effort to annex any part of the area involved except by agreement
of both cities.
After due discussion, Ernest Millican, Jr.,
moved that the Council authorize Mayor Payton to arrange and sign a statement
for the City of Euless, assuring the City of Fort Worth that the City of
Euless would cooperate in the project as outlined above, providing a similar
agreement is approved by the City of Hurst. Exact copies of agreements signed
by both c i t i e s are f i l e d here for record. The motion was seconded by W. H.
Fuller and the vote was unanimously i n favor.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
