June 10, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. The meeting was held at Euless City
Hall, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon, Barbara Collier, Iris Elliott, Gary Fieldsend,
Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Don Martin, David Massey, Shirley Mercer, Gary Parker, Helen Payton,
Faye Stinneford, Peggy Vandiver, Helen Voss and Mavy Wright.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Under Status of Current Projects, numbers 3 and 4, "Gammen" should be spelled "Gammon". Weldon
Cannon asked about how Mrs. Willie Mae McCormick used to spell her husband's name on her letters to
Parks. Staff indicated that all her handwritten letters spelled his name as "Mc.". Don Martin made a
motion to approve the minutes with the corrections. Helen Voss seconded the motion, motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported the beginning balance on May 13, 2013 was $11,347.82. There were
$431.77 in expenditures and $79.03 in deposits. The balance as of June 10, 2013 was $10,995.08
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Members reported that nineteen people visited Heritage Park during open house on June 8, 2013.
Peggy Vandiver reported that one visitor had children with her and the children were very unruly and
difficult to contain. The members wanted a procedure to deal with these situations. Bill Golden noted
that the members can ask unruly people to leave the facility in such situations.
2. The following names were mentioned as volunteers to docent for the Parkwood tour on Wednesday,
June 12, 2013. Iris Elliott, Bill Golden, Barbara Collier and Peggy Vandiver.
3. The following people volunteered to docent during open house on July 13, 2013: Iris Elliott, Barbara
Collier, Perry Brockmeyer, Bill Byers, Doris Brown, Don Martin, Shirley Mercer, David Massey,
Faye Stinneford, Helen Payton, Norma Lively and Peggy Vandiver.

4. The following people volunteered to docent during open house on August 10, 2013: Iris Elliott, Perry
Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Don Martin, Peggy Vandiver, David Massey, Helen Voss, Faye
Stinneford, Gary Fieldsend, Helen Payton, Iris Elliott, Bill Golden and Mavy Wright.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition Sub-committee—Bill Byers:
• Weldon Cannon may be selling his property on Euless Main and has a lot of artifacts to donate to
the Museum.
• Bill Golden discussed that he would like to build an"old blacksmith" at Heritage Park with old
lumber from Weldon Cannon's house.
2. Euless Marker Program—The following was discussed:
• The Arch Cannon House marker will be installed in the near future.
• Staff will have the Himes Log House and McCormick Barn markers installed soon.
3. Library Display—Gary Fieldsend is working on the project.
4. Oral History Recording Updates:
• Staff reported that William "Bill" Gay's interview is still being reviewed by the family.
• Staff also indicated that Helen Gleghorn's interview was given to her to proof and it hadn't been
returned. Weldon Cannon will review and advise regarding Mrs. Gleghorn's interview. Staff will
send Mr. Cannon the transcribed interview.
• Betty Fuller and Robert Nail previously attempied to record Mr. Nail's oral history but they
weren't able to meet to do the interview.
5. Museum Committee—the Committee will meet on Wednesday, June 12 to do a final inventory.
Barbara Collier reported they will be done with the inventory after Wednesday.
6. Publicity Sub-Committee—the following was discussed:
• Staff is providing open house flyers to the members to post at various local businesses.
• Staff has provided open house signs for the members to put on their front yard on the week of
open house.
• Members requested for open house signs to go at the Library, Senior Center, the Aquatics Center,
Parks at Texas Star, and the Golf Course.
• Gary Fieldsend volunteered to include open house dates and times on the Library poster display.
Staff will email Mr. Fieldsend the open house flyer.
• Barbara Collier asked about the museum brochures. Brochures are currently available at the
Museum and staff will have more printed in the near future.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Bill Golden reported the following:
• Betty Fuller fell and is recovering.
• Mrs. Golden had a rough recovery but is now doing much better.
• Councilmember Leon Hogg is out of town.
• Peggy Vandiver now resides at Parkwood instead of at her daughter's.
• Contacted a local recruiting officer about Mr. Gammon's medals. The officer he spoke with
offered to come to the Museum and properly display Mr. Gammon's medals on the uniform.

• Asked committee members who regularly serve as docents to meet with him after the meeting to
discuss whether to continue doing the elementary school tours or not. Names of regular docents
were read and they were asked to attend the meeting. Anyone was welcome to attend the meeting
also. Communication with the HEB-ISD has been lacking.
STAFF REPORTS
1. Staff reported the following:
• Suzanne Hendrickson is still very busy with the Aquatics center. The facility is up and running
and receiving very positive reviews however, a lot of work and supervision is still required in
order to get everything running smoothly. A pool manager will be hired as soon as possible.
• Per Betty Fuller's request at last month's meeting, all items displayed in the cases at the Library
will be inventoried. A complete list will be given to Mrs. Fuller and/or the Museum committee to
review.
OTHER REPORTS
1. Weldon Cannon asked whether the name "Museum" refers to just the "museum building" or is that
referring to the whole Heritage Park location including the Fuller House, Himes Log House and
McCormick Barn. After some discussion, the members agreed that the whole Heritage Park area
including the "museum building",both the Fuller and Himes Houses, McCormick Barn, etc., can be
referred to as the "Museum Complex". The "museum building" currently called the Euless Heritage
Museum at the Ruth Millican Center can be referred to as the "Museum".
2. Weldon Cannon attends and is a member of several local historical committees, associations, etc. He
is able to talk about various Euless historical projects at those meetings.
3. Weldon Cannon loaned documents to the Tarrant County Archives in Fort Worth for a display on
"Aviation in Tarrant County." It was discussed that the Committee could one day bring in an exhibit
to display at Heritage Park. It was further discussed that the Committee could also loan out items
from its collection to other entities. The Committee will speak with the City regarding a procedure for
this process.
4. Helen Voss had family visiting from out of town. They were very impressed with the Euless Museum.
5. David Massey's mother, Margie Neely Massey, recently passed away. Members expressed their
condolences for Mr. Massey's loss and their admiration of the late Mrs. Massey.
ADJOURNMENT
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Don Martin seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
