Called Meeting
Euless City Council
July 26, 1955
The Council met in special session at
7:30 p.m., July 26, 1955• Present were Jimmy C. Payton, Mayor, and
Councilmen A. E. Tillery, Ernest Millican, Jr., and J. S. Anderson
The first matter of business was that of
furniture for the community building which is nearing completion. Word
from the Volunteer Firemen that their organization would bey 25 folding
chairs was brought by some member of-the Council, Then, on motion by
A. E. Tillery and second by Ernest Millican, Jr., the Council voted to
buy 50. The chair selected is all metal, slightly used, at $2.50 each.
Mayor Payton further suggested that each member of the Council be on
the alert to locate values in other items as follows: one desk, one
conference type table, and seven arm chairs.
Next the controversy between the building
committee and Sherwin Williams Paint Company over the compound that
company furnished for sealing the walls of the building against moisture
was considered. Since the product was not satisfactory, the company has
offered to furnish another product without charge, but since the building
committee feels that the company should also furnish the labor to apply
it, the matter was brought to the attention of the council for an opinion.
So, on a motion by J. S. Anderson and second by Ernest Millican, Jr.,
the council voted unanimously to accept the replacement as proposed by
the company.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
