HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-08-19 Regular Meeting Planning and Zoning Commission August 19, 1969 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission was called to order at 8:00 P. M. , in the Council Chambers of Euless City Hall , with Mr. Bill Tench presiding. Other members present are listed as follows: Messers, Harry Arth and Jack Cline. (Mr. Jim Dowell was present as a candidate for replacement of Mr. Audie L. Morris , resigned .) (Absent: Chairman Leonard Weber, Vice Chairman Jack Browne and Richard Leggett) Also present were City Inspector Jack Bullard and Recording Secretary Florence Murr. VISITORS Visitors in attendance are listed as follows: Reverend Michael S. Black, Pastor of United Memorial Christian Church, Messers . J. Russell Lee and Ivan Gregory, Jr. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the regular meeting dated August 5, 1969, were approved as written. PLAT APPROVAL, UNITED MEMORIAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH (LOCATED ON WEST SIDE OF NORTH MAIN STREET, APPROXIMATELY 400 FEET NORTH OF FAIR OAKS BOULEVARD) Chairman Tench recognized Mr. J. Russell Lee and Reverend Michael S . Black, representatives for United Memorial Christian Church , for which Plat Approval is requested . Chairman Tench read a letter dated August 18, 1969, addressed to the Planning and Zoning Commission from the City's Consulting Engineers , as follows: "As requested by Mr. Bullard , we have reviewed the subject addition and feel that it meets the City's Policies in all respects . We would, therefore recommend your approval as submitted." Members of the Commission reviewed the plat, and Mr. Lee advised that only the first phase of construction is �► proposed at this time . Reverend Black advised that the pro- posed structure is a combined unit which will include the sanctuary, educational and fellowship facilities -- that additional facilities will be constructed at some future date. Chairman Tench questioned the City Inspector concerning the existing zoning classification of the property in question. Mr. Bullard replied that the property is zoned "R-1"; however, a church building can be erected in a residen- tial area; therefore , everything appears to be in order. In reply to a question from Chairman Tench , Reverend Black advised that the tract consists of approximately 5.26 acres , which will be adequate for a future expansion program. Mr. Cline moved to recommend approval of the Plat for United Memorial Christian Church , as presented . Mr. Arth seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Messers. Cline , Tench and Arth Nays: None Chairman Tench declared the motion carried . Reverend Black inquired concerning the procedure for dedicating necessary easements to the City of Euless. City Inspector Bullard advised that the dedication will be included on the Plat which will be presented to the City Council for consideration at its next regular meeting, to be held on August 26, 1969. Mr. Bullard advised further that , since water and sewer lines will be the property of the City of Euless, a copy of contract documents for those structures should be furnished to the City, and a copy of the building plans must be submitted before a building permit can be issued.
