HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-05-02 Regular Meeting Planning and Zoning Commission May 2, 1972 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission was called to order at 8: 10 P.M. in the Council Chambers of Euless City Hall , with Mr. Harry Arth serving as Chairman. Other members present were Messrs. Robert Johnson and Herman Wallace. (Absent were Chairman Leonard Weber, Vice Chairman Jack Cline, Messrs . Turner Gauntt and Richard Leggett.) Also present were City Manager C. J . Griggs and City Inspector Jack Bullard. VISITORS Visitors in attendance were Messrs . Norman Harper, Sonny Loftis, Bob Eden, R. M. James and Bob Shoemaker. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Wallace moved to approve minutes of the regular meeting dated April 18, 1972, as written. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows : Ayes : Messrs. Wallace, Johnson and Arth Nays : None Acting Chairman Arth declared the motion carried. II . PUBLIC HEARING: ZONING CASE NO. 225, REQUEST OF CENTENNIAL HOMES , INC. FOR CHANGE OF ZONING DISTRICT, FROM "R-2" TWO-FAMILY DWELLING AND "PD" PLANNED DEVELOPMENT FOR APARTMENTS TO "PD" PLANNED DEVELOPMENT FOR TOWN HOUSES (PROPERTY LOCATED ON TRACT C, LAKEWOOD ADDITION, WEST AND NORTH OF BOCOWOOD AND WEST AND NORTH OF LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL) Acting Chairman Arth opened the Public Hearing on Zoning Case No. 225 and recognized Mr. Bob Shoemaker, who presented the Zoning Case. ire.. (Page Two, Minutes of Regular Meeting, Planning and Zoning Commission, May 2, 1972) /Imp Mr. Shoemaker stated that this is not so much a zoning change as it is a plan change and pointed out that the property is presently zoned "PD" Planned Development for cluster housing and "R-2" Duplex Zoning along Lakewood Drive at Bocowood. He advised that the purpose for the request is to change the development plan from cluster housing and duplexes to townhouse development. Mr. Shoemaker displayed pictures of townhouses, stating that they are what he intends to construct. He also displayed front, rear and side elevations of the townhouses . Mr. Johnson questioned the parking space allowed for visitors. Mr. Shoemaker replied that there will be one parking space for visitors located behind each carport and that the paving width of the street on the north side of the project will be thirty (30) feet, which will allow for a twenty (20) foot fire lane and a ten (10) foot parking lane for the length of the street. Acting Chairman Arth called for opponents to the zoning request. There being none, the Public Hearing was closed. Mr. Johnson moved to recommend approval of the rezoning requested in Zoning Case No. 225. Mr. Wallace seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows : Ayes : Messrs .
