Regular Meeting
Euless City Council
September 12, 1955
The Council met. in regular session at
7:30 p.m., September 12, 1955• Present wer Mayor Jimmy C. Payton, and
Councilmen A. E. Tillery, Ernest Millican, Jr., W. H. Fuller, M. L. Anders,
and J. S. Anderson.
Also present were C. A. Horton, and A.
T. Sellers, members of the Building Committee.
With the Building Committee and Council
in joint session, the matter of public use of the Community Hall was
discussed after which Councilman Ernest Millican, Jr., made the following
motion: "That any civic organization, or citizen, of the community be
permitted to reserve the Hall - no charge to be made for use by civic
organizations, but a charge of $2.00 per hour for use at night and $1.00
per hour for use in day light hours be made for individual use."
Councilman W. H. F u l l e r seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in
i t s favor. It was agreed by unanimous consent that all reservations
should be granted by the Mayor.
This being the first meeting of the
Council in the new building, there were expressions of appreciation of the
fact that it was completed at the extremely low cost of approximately
$3.90 per square foot. In keeping with the spirit, Councilman M. L. Anders
moved that the Council authorize the secretary to write a letter of
appreciation to the Building Committee for their efforts in securing so
much for so little. Councilman W. H. Fuller offered a second to the
motion. The vote was unanimous in favor.
At this point the Building Committee
retired from the meeting, the Council continuing in session and the following
action being taken:
First, Minutes of Previous meetings on
June 9, 1 3 , 30, and J u l y 26, 1955 were read and approved.
Second: An agreement with Mr. T. A.
Kennard was arranged as follows: Mr. Kennard to serve as City Secretary and
Building Inspector from October 1, 1955, through April 1956, his main duties
are t o keep a l l minutes of Council Meetings and issue building permits,
his salary to be determined by amounts collected for fees each month as
follows: Total amount of fees from building permits tp to $50.00 each
month and 50 %of next $150.00, thus making a total maximum of $125.00 per
month. Mr. Kennard being present agreed to this arrangement after discussing
his duties with the Council.
Third: On a motion by M. L. Anders, with
second by Ernest Millican, Jr., the Council voted unanimously to give Fuller
& Payton Insurance Agency a three year contract for $10,000 insurance on the
new building.
