Planning and Zoning Commission
August 7, 1973
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Planning and
Zoning Commission was called to order at 8:00 P. M. in the Council Chambers
of Euless City Hall by Chairman Carl Tyson. Other members present were
Messrs . Don Perkins, Bob Pippin and Herman Wallace. (Absent were Messrs .
Ray Ozebek, Richard Leggett, and Robert Johnson.)
Also present were City Manager C. J.
Griggs and City Inspector Jack Bullard.
Visitors in attendance are listed as
follows: John W. Heard, Walter A. Elliott, Noah Cureton, and Willie Mae
McCormick.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Perkins moved to approve minutes of
the regular meeting dated July 17, 1973, as written.
Mr. Wallace seconded the motion and the
vote is as follows:
Ayes: Messrs. Perkins, Wallace, Pippin and Tyson
Nays: None
Chairman Tyson declared the motion carried.
CONSIDER CHANGES TO OFF-STREET PARKING
SPACES REQUIREMENTS FOR MOTELS AND HOTELS
Mr. Pippin moved to recommend change to
off-street parking spaces for hotels and motels to read -
1 .2 parking spaces per living or rental unit , plus one (1)
parking space per one hundred (100) square feet of ballroom
or meeting room area.
Mr. Wallace seconded the motion and the
vote is as follows:
Ayes: Messrs. Pippin, Wallace, Perkins and Tyson
Nays: None
Chairman Tyson declared the motion carried.

CONSIDER CHANGES FOR SIDE YARDS IN "R-1 "
SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICTS
Mr. Wallace moved to recommend change to
"R-1" Single Family Dwelling District 7-102 (3) "Side Yard" to read -
There shall be two (2) side yards for each structure in "R-1"
Dwelling District, one on each side of each structure, one
of which shall be not less than five (5) feet in width and
one not less than twelve (12) feet in width.
Mr. Pippin seconded the motion and the
vote is as follows :
Ayes: Messrs. Wallace, Pippin, Perkins and Tyson
Nays: None
Chairman Tyson declared the motion carried.
III .
CONSIDER CHANGE IN "C-1" NEIGHBORHOOD
BUSINESS DISTRICT - SECTION 7-401 -
USES PERMITTED
Mr. Pippin moved to recommend change to
"C-1" Neighborhood Business District Section 7-401 , Uses Permitted to read -
Any uses permitted in the foregoing "R-1" Dwelling District except
that no dwellings or living quarters shall be constructed in the
"C-1" Neighborhood Business District.
Mr. Wallace seconded the motion and
. the vote is as follows :
Ayes : Messrs. Pippin Wallace, Perkins, and Tyson
Nays: None
Chairman Tyson declared the motion carried.
IV.
CONSIDER CHANGE IN "C-2" COMMUNITY BUSINESS
DISTRICT - SECTION 7-501 - USES PERMITTED
AND SECTION 7-502 - SET BACK REQUIREMENTS
Mr. Perkins moved to recommend change to
irs "C-2" Community Business District Section 7-501 Uses Permitted Subsection (1 )
to read -
Any uses permitted in the "C-1 " Neighborhood Business District
and Section 7-502 Subsection (1 ) Front Yard to read -

torAll buildings to be set back a minimum of twenty (20) feet from
all dedicated streets.
Mr. Pippin seconded the motion and the
vote is as follows :
Ayes : Messrs. Perkins, Pippin, Wallace, and Tyson

V.
CONSIDER CHANGE TO SECTION 9-200 -
SCHEDULE OF SIGN STANDARDS
Mr. Perkins moved to recommend change to
Section 9-200 - Schedule of Sign Standards to read -
The permissible sign types are defined as follows :
G - Ground Sign - A sign with a solid base at grade level
W - Wall Sign - A sign located on any wall
P - Pole Sign - A sign supported by a pole or poles
PA - Parapet Wall Sign - A sign located on a parapet wall only
R - Roof Sign - A sign located on and supported by a roof
PR - Projection Sign - A sign supported on one end and projecting
Outward from pole or structure
M - Marquee Sign - A sign that is changeable and gives specific
information about what it advertises
SC - Shopping Center Sign - A sign with name of shopping center
and/or shopping center listed on one sign structure
A - Advertising Sign - A sign advertising a place or product or
thing located off premises from that which
it advertises
I - Institutional Sign - A sign advertising a School , Church,
College, Lodge, Hospitals, Convents, Welfare
Homes or similar establishments

VI .
CONSIDER AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 206 -
THE ADOPTING ORDINANCE OF THE NATIONAL
ELECTRIC CODE
Mr. Perkins moved to recommend to amend
Ordinance No. 206 - the adopting ordinance of the National Electric Code -
by adding a paragraph to read -
No permit shall be issued for a beacon or flashing light
Mr. Pippin seconded the motion and the
vote is as follows:
Ayes: Messrs. Perkins, Pippin Wallace and Tyson
Nays: None
Chairman Tyson declared the motion carried.
