Regular Meeting
Euless City Council
October 10, 1955
The City Council of Euless met in
regular session October 10, 1955, at 7:30 p.m. and was called to order by
Mayor Jimmy Payton. Councilmen present were M. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson,
W. H. Fuller, Ernest Millican, Jr., and A. E. Tillery.
Meeting with the Council were:
Mr. McCain from Hurst seeking information concerning the erection
of a shop (business building) on a lot not zoned for business.
No action was taken further than he was advised to submit his
request to the zoning board for further consideration.
Mr. Brown, owner and operator of the Brown Airline Service
who was seeking information about a taxi service or franchise
serving Euless from Carter Field.
It was agreed that the City of Euless would draw up such
franchise and present it to Mr. Brown at a later date.
Mr. C. D. Nichols of Johnson - Campbell Lumber Company of
Fort Worth, Texas. He. asked and was granted permission to
construct a service road from Highway 183 to their Phillip's
66 service station in the Creathaven Addition. Motion was
made by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Tillery.
The vote was unanimous.
Mr. Gustav Anderson had requested by
mail, permission to build a service road to his new place of business on
Highway 183. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, seconded by Councilman
Anders and the vote was unanimous that permission be granted. Mr. Anderson
was so notified by letter from the City Secretary immediately.
The advisability of appointing a zoning
committee was revived and by common consent of the council, the Mayor was
granted th authority, with the consent of the council to approve, to
appoint a committee of three (two necessary to render a decision). The
Mayor was to contact Mr. Knarr to see if he would accept a place on the
committee and to approach Messrs. Paul Horton and Tracy Arnett as other
members of the Zoning Committee.
At the suggestion of Councilman Fuller,
it was decided that an investigation should be made to ascertain if the house
of J. H. Whitener on an undedicated street could not be furnished with
natural gas. No vote was taken.
A motion was offered by Councilman Anders
and was seconded by Councilman Millican that the City of Euless intercede in
the suit. entered by W. S. Mills, et al, against J. B. Harrison Refining
Company. The vote was unanimous to intercede.

After due discussion, a motion by
Councilman Anders and seconded by Councilman Anderson was unanimously
approved that permits to remodel, repair, alter, etc. be required only when
such work or construction adds footage to the 4ivab +e- areas.- building.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m.

Council in regular session November 14, 1955, revised this last motion,
the last part to read, "When such work or construction adds footage to
the building." The words, "livable areas are hereby deleted.
