Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of
the August 1, 2013 meeting. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan Gibbs seconded the
motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed all of the visitors to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Stats continue to look good. Increase in the digital checkouts is due to Zinio and TumbleBooks.
Staff Updates: Eric Terry will be joining the staff as the Senior Librarian in Reference on September 9th
Sherry reported to the board that Sara Hickman will be performing at the Texas Star on Monday, September 9th
at 7:00pm.
The Youth Department will have the second "Write Night" on Monday, September 9th. The subject this month
is "The Lost Art of Letter Writing."
The Youth Department "Super Hero"program is on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00pm.
The Youth Department will be offering after school tutoring with the teen volunteers.
Sherry conducted a demonstration of the 3M e-Books. Patrons can check out up to 4 e-Books at a time and
place up to 7 e-Books on hold. The board inquired as to why 3M was chosen. The primary reason is easy to
use, cost effective, and integrates with our online catalog.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Chris McAllister commented on the plans for the 9-11 Ceremony
2. Mike McGehee reminded everyone that the Library Foundation will present Kate Lyon with her art
statue at the ELF Annual Meeting on September 26th at 7:00pm
3. Barney Snitz commented on the library hours, pick up window hours, banned books, and inquired about
the organization chart.

ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by
Beverly Leake. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
