Regular Meeting
Euless City Council
November 14, 1955
The City Council of Euless, Texas, met
in regular session November 14, 1955, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor
Jimmy Payton, Councilmen M. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson, W. H. Fuller,
Ernest Millican, Jr., and A. E. Tillery.
Meeting with the council were Messrs.
A. J. Knarr, Tracy Arnett, and Paul Horton, representing the newly appointed
Zoning Board of Adjustment. Mr. Knarr being chairman of the board.
Also present was Mr., D. W. Robinson, a
representative of the Joe Rady Engineering Company, who has volunteered
to work with the Zoning Board of Adjustment as a technical adviser.
On a motion by Councilman M i l l i c a n and
seconded by Councilman Fuller, the vote was unanimous that the Menasco
Company be offered the council room and the City Secretary's office rent
free while in the process of selecting the labor for Menasco's future
operation.
Mayor Payton, by authority invested in
him, dismissed from the building committee Messrs. Anderson and Tillery.
A motion was offered by,Counci lman
Tillery and seconded by Councilman Anderson that the State Highway Department
determine for the City the minimum mileage or speed limits the State
Highway Department will accept within the city limits of Euless and enforce
the same with the State Highway enforcement officers. This also to apply
to the service lanes. The vote was unanimous to seek such information.
On a third motion by Councilman Anderson,
seconded by Councilman Millican, the council unanimously voted for a 20
m i l e speed l i m i t through our school zone and markers so indicating.
Concern about our parking situation brought
a motion from Councilman Millican, seconded by Councilman Anders that the
city consult with the State Highway Department concerning stopping and parking
on our service lanes. The vote was unanimous in favor of such action.
Mayor Payton accepted the responsibility
of contacting the proper authorities of the State Highway Department about
the matters voted and bring to the council at a later date.
Another motion by Councilman Fuller, with
a second by Councilman Tillery, was that Earl Johnson, the county commissioner
of this precinct, be sent a letter of thanks for paving in front of the city
h a l l and fire department. The vote was unanimous for and the matter left
with the Mayor for further consideration, and completion.

A final motion by Councilman Anderson,
seconded by Councilman M i l l i ca n was to revise or alter a former adopted
motion of the minutes of October 10, 1955, page two, final motion, which
read in part: "When such work or construction adds footage to the livable
area." Changing these words to read, "When such work or construction adds
footage to the building."
Payton at 9:30 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned by Mayor
