Called Meeting
Euless City Council
December 19, 1955
The City Council of Euless met in a
called session at 7:30 p.m., December 19, 1955.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor
Jimmy Payton. Councilmen present were M. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson, Ernest
Millican, Jr., and A. E. Tillery.
The primary purpose of the meeting was
to hear Attorney Geo. P. Gleeson advise the Council on the technical or
legal aspects regarding changes or amendments to city ordinances, Ordinance
No. 40 being the one under question.
It was the opinion of Mr. Gleeson that,
while such action would be an administrative matter rather than a legal
matter, it was not deemed advisable to release any developers from the curb
and gutter provision of Ordinance No. 40.
After hearing Mr. Gleeson, the City
Council of Euless met with the City Council of Bedford. Some boundary
adjustments between the two incorporations seemed to need attention. The
councils, by common consent, agreed to refer the matter to their engineers
who would in turn recommend any reestablishment of the boundary lines.
Before leaving, Mr. Gleeson volunteered
his services in offering to write or otherwise notify Mr. Nichols, of
Johnson - Campbell Lumber Company, that the City Council did not deem it
to be to the best interests of the City of Euless to alter or amend
Ordinance No. 40 by excluding the curb and gutter provision.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
