Parks and Leisure Services Board
April 05, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:03 p.m.. On
Monday, April, 05, 2021, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones. Other Board Members present: Magen Brown, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Kay Seeger and
Jason Reyes.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Park
Superintendent Ryan Turner, Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn, Senior Center Supervisor Jake
Murphy, Recreation Specialist/Aquatics Cody Grimes and Recreation Specialist/Programs Alex
Harvey.
Visitors present: Council member Jeremy Tompkins
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Randy Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
March 01, 2021 regular meeting. Roger Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Jason Reyes. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—J.A. Carr Park & Kiddy Carr: No items to report.
b. Kay Seger—Villages of Bear Creek & Reflection: No items to report.
c. John Raab— Midway Park & Blessing Branch: Not present.
d. Magen Brown — Heritage Park & South Euless Park: No items to report.
e. Roger Sickler- Preserve & McCormick: No items to report.
f. Jason Reyes - West Park & Wilshire Park: No items to report.
g. Isha Sharma - Bob Eden Park & Trailwood: Not present.
h. Chairman Jones— Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
i. Chairman Owens reported on the following Special Events:

• March 20, 2021, Catch 'Em All Scavenger Hunt. 36 Pokeballs were hidden around
the city's parks and buildings. After 6 hours of starting the event, all pokeballs were
found from participants from not only Euless but surroundings cities as well.
• April 17, 2021, Kites Over Euless will be held at Bear Creek Park.
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for (March 2021):
a. Total man hours for March 1 — March 31, 2021 —Total = 532
• 261 Horticulture
• 201 Forestry
• 46 Greenhouse
• 0 Special Projects
• 24 Training
Trimmed Crape Myrtles on Raider Dr. and Harwood Rd.
Trimmed trees at Historical Tree Grove
Trimmed trees at Midway Park and Bob Eden Park
Trimmed trees on Fair Oaks Blvd.
Training on water fountain/irrigation repair
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Staff Report—
• Jake Murphy introduced himself and discussed the opening of the aquatic park and
the senior center.
• Cody Grimes introduced himself and gave an update on the opening of the splash
pad. Cody also discussed programming at the natatorium and the mechanics at the
aquatic park.
• Alex Harvey introduced himself and discussed his role in overseeing summer camp
as well as the classes provided at the Euless Family Life Center.
b. Community Services Report— Ray McDonald
• Master Plan Discussion
• Ray advised Park Board that numerous plants throughout the city would need
replaced due to the cold weather.
• Ray updated Park Board on the replacement of exercise equipment at Bob Eden
Park.
• Ray presented a status report on the outdoor programming at the Senior Center.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.

Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
