A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE EXTENSION OF HARWOOD ROAD TO
RENTAL CAR DRIVE AND PLEDGING FINANCIAL SUPPORT
TOWARD THE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, State Highway 183 (SH 183) is a major transportation thoroughfare
in the Dallas/Fort Worth region; and
WHEREAS, the State Highway 183 Managed Lane Project includes the
reconstruction of the highway from FM 157 in Euless to the city's eastern city limits
located in close proximity to the south entrance of the Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport: and
WHEREAS, as a result of the reconstruction, the entire region will experience
traffic congestion, which negatively impacts economic growth in the region; and
WHEREAS, the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport supports the extension of
Harwood Road to Rental Car Drive as an alternative solution for east/west travel at the
south end of the airport and has approached the City of Euless seeking support of the
project, including a pledge for financial support in the amount of $100,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
The City of Euless City Council fully supports regional transportation and
believes the extension of Harwood Road to Rental Car Drive will be of great benefit to
the area and also provide a viable alternative route for transportation during the
reconstruction of State Highway 183.
SECTION 2.
The City of Euless City Council believes this to be a worthy project that will
benefit the citizens of Euless as well as support regional transportation in Northeast
Tarrant County and agrees to pledge financial support in the amount of$100,000.
SECTION 3.
This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
SECTION 4.
PRESENTED AND PASSED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on
October 22, 2013, by a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions.
