HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-1608 06-22-2021RESOLUTION NO. 21-1608 A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT -CV (CDBG-CV) PROJECT TO JC COMMERCIAL, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $382,777.00 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF IMPROVMENTS AT THE EULESS SENIOR CENTER. WHEREAS, In response to combating the effects of COVID-19, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated special Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas does, hereby recommend the award of contract for the CDBG-CV Project to JC Commercial, Inc., in the amount of $382,777.00 for the constrution of an outdoor arbor covering at the north porch of the Euless Senior Center; and WHEREAS, CDBG-CV Project consists of the construction of an approximately 2,500 square foot exterior arbor on the north side of the Euless Senior Center which will provide a shaded exterior space in which a continuation of existing programming specific for senior citizens may continue while maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols; and WHEREAS, the City Council recommends including the authorization for the City of Euless staff and Tarrant County to issue change order(s) totaling an amount not to exceed five percent (5%) of the base contract amount ($19,138.85) without requiring formal action by the City Council and Commissioner's Court; and WHEREAS, the construction funds available through Tarrant County for this project are $382,777.00; and WHEREAS, Staff has reviewed the bid tabulation and based on supporting documentation from OWT Architects (Exhibit A), recommends that Tarrant County award the contract to the low bidder, JC Commercial, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City of Euless, Texas City Council recommends award of a contract to JC Commercial, Inc., in the amount of $382,777.00 for the construction of an outdoor arbor covering at the north porch of the Euless Senior Center and further recommends including the authorization for the City of Euless staff and Tarrant County to issue change order(s) totaling an amount not to exceed five percent (5%) of the base contract amount ($19,138.85) without requiring formal action by the City Council and Commissioner's Court SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the Charter of the City of Euless, Texas. APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on June 22, 2021, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions.
