SP ILL . V Independence Day!
Dear Citizens,
At the time of
this writing in
mid -May, Harry
Zimmer has
been reelected
for another three
years to the Euless
City Council. We had four candidates
running in Place 6, which has resulted
in a runoff election in early June. Mr.
Bhojani is continuing to serve in Place
6 until the runoff election is over.
As Mayor, I appreciate that we have
such a great interest in our local
government. Our City Council
Members are volunteers and do not
receive a salary. Whether holding
down full-time jobs or helping non-
profit organizations, all of our Council
Members have commitments beyond
their City responsibilities that keep
them busy. They serve vital roles and
approve the City budget, work on
special projects and participate in City
Council Meetings twice a month. And
yet, these dedicated volunteers devote
their nights and weekends to serve our
City.
I am grateful for all the things these
Council Members do for our City and
our residents and I look forward to
welcoming a new Council Member to
Euless.

Betterment Fund Improves
the Community
Have you ever wondered where the free trees at Arbor
Daze come from? Or how the HEB Reads program is
funded? Euless residents generously make these extras
possible, but it's not through tax dollars.
By simply donating 50 cents a month, citizens of
Euless have helped to improve the community in many
ways. The Betterment Fund, which is funded solely
through donations on monthly water bills, is used to
fund beautification, and other improvements to the
community and the quality of life.
The city has spent that money on programs such as the
1 + 1 = 2 Tree Program which supports the free tree
program at Arbor Daze, the HEB Reads program, the
Mayor's Holiday Kickoff, Christmas Tree Lighting,
and other projects appropriated by the Council.

Hotels in Euless
Did you realize that there are ten hotels in Euless? They
are ideally situated in the DFW Metroplex, because
they are minutes away from DFW International
Airport, downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas.
View the hotel list and a map of the area by going to
the "Where to Stay" page under "City Information" on
eulesstx.gov.
Guests at these hotels pay a 7 percent hotel/motel
occupancy tax, which the City receives as income.
Funds generated by this occupancy tax must be
expended for items that qualify in accordance with state
law including the promotion of tourism, programs that
enhance the arts, historical preservation programs and
convention facilities. This revenue source continues to
provide funding for the Texas Star Conference Centre
and historical preservation, so the success of these
hotels impacts our City.
Enjoy Nature at
Kiddie Carr Park
Kiddie Carr Park
800 Pauline St., Euless
Kiddie Carr Park is a pretty, 4-acre park nestled in a
quiet neighborhood. Its grills and picnic tables make
it ideal for family barbecues. The park has an outdoor
basketball court, many shady trees and plenty of room
for kids to run and play. It's also home to one of Euless'
tree farms, where small trees are grown and eventually
transplanted into our beautiful parks and the Arbor
Daze tree giveaway. Check out this little gem of a park.
