Asphalt Improvements Coming
to Euless Streets
Asphalt overlay is used to protect and restore surfaces of paved roads and to combat
the deterioration of the pavement caused by weather and traffic. Routine maintenance
such as this helps to extend the life of the road and reduce restoration costs.
The City of Euless has partnered with Tarrant County to perform asphalt overlays
on five streets at the end of August. The streets are Vine St., Martha St., Sunset Dr.,
Whitener Rd. and Simmons Dr. This work will take approximately three weeks to
complete. Tarrant County employees will provide the labor and equipment necessary
to place a 2-inch overlay on the streets. The City of Euless will furnish and pay for
the actual cost of the milling, materials and half of the fuel cost. The milled asphalt is
reclaimed and reused on road projects.
By performing asphalt overlays, the City is creating smooth riding surfaces for the
present and avoiding costly repairs in the future.
Euless Today is published by the City of Euless.

I Don't Let Mosquitos Ruin Your Summer
It's summer and mosquitos thrive in hot weather. Besides being irritating, they can also spread disease,
such as West Nile virus, Zika virus and the St. Louis encephalitis virus.
The best way to avoid getting one of these illnesses is to limit your exposure to mosquitos in the first place.
You can do this by removing water sources where they breed and putting barriers on your skin.
Lessen mosquito exposure by taking these actions:
• Get rid any type of container in your yard that may hold water, even small amounts
• Empty wading pools frequently and store them indoors when not in use
• Repair leaky pipes and outside faucets
• Change water in bird baths and scrub them twice a week
• If you have outside pets, empty their watering dishes daily
• Clean clogged roof gutters and drain flat roofs
• Treat standing water that can't be drained with Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis
(Bti), available at most home and garden stores
• When possible, remain indoors at dusk and dawn, when mosquitos are most active
• When outdoors, wear protective clothing or use insect repellent with the active ingredient DEET
to avoid exposure to mosquitos
The City of Euless traps mosquitoes weekly in different areas of Euless and Tarrant County tests those mosquitos.
If a mosquito is positive for mosquito -borne illnesses, the City of Euless will then spray that area for mosquitoes.
Mosquito spraying is typically done after 10 p.m. when most people are indoors. Spraying will not take place
when it's raining or when wind speeds are 10 mph or greater. During the spraying, you do not need to do anything
special, since the spray droplets falling on the ground become inactive in just a few hours or with sunshine (LTV
light).
You can get advance, email notice of mosquito spraying in your neighborhood by signing up for
"Community Alerts" at eulesstx.gov/enotification. For questions or concerns regarding mosquitos,
please call Public Works at 817-685-1580.
