HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-02-24119 Called Meeting Euless City Council February 24, 1956 A special session of the City Council was called by Mayor Payton, February 24, 1956, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor Jimmy Payton, and Councilmen M. L . Anders, J . S . Anderson, W. H. F u l l e r , Ernest M i l l i ca n , Jr and A. E. Tillery. Attorney George Gleeson met with the council, advisory to certain legal matters, concerning the types of buildings to be erected in the business and commercial zones. Present also was Mrs. Cox from Arlington seeking advice on the prospects of erecting a trailer park in a residential area. She was advised to ask the land owner to petition City Council to request the consideration of a rezoning for commercial purposes. Such request to be placed before the Planning Commission. On motion by Councilman Anders and seconded by Councilman Tillery, Ordinance No. 42 was adopted accepting the petition of George W. Pirtle, et al, to annex to the City of Euless the H. McCoy Survey, as described in Ordinance No. 42. (Copy of Ordinance No. 42 on f i I e i n Office of City Secretary.) The vote was unanimous. A second motion by Councilman Millican, seconded by Councilman Fuller, was also unanimously adopted, creating Ordinance No. 43, to be known as the garbage disposal ordinance. Thirdly, Councilman Anders offered a motion, seconded by Couniclman M i l l i ca n to adopt Ordinance No. 44, establishing a Corporation Court for the City of Euless, Texas. Adoption was unanimous. On a motion by Councilman Anders, seconded by Councilman Tillery, Ordinance No. 45, setting up a cost and fines system for the Corporation Court of the City of Euless, was accepted by unanimous vote. A true and correct copy of these ordinances are on f i le in Office of City Secretary. A f i n a l motion by Councilman M i l l i c a n and seconded by Councilman Fuller authorizing Councilman Tillery and Mr. Kennard to purchase and install door checks on the front doors to the City Hall and Fire Station, the purchase of enough celotex for a bulletin board ITIJ (Page Two, Called Meeting, Euless City Council, February 24, 1956) and to contact a sign painter and have signs painted on the City Hall and Fire Station.
