Parks and Leisure Services Board
May 03, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:01 p.m.. On
Monday, May, 03, 2021, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Vice Chairman
John Raab. Other Board Members present: Kay Seger, Isha Sharma, Magen Brown, Jason Reyes
and Roger Sickler.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Park Manger
Daniel Dearborn, Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn, Recreation Superintendent Liz Johnson,
Recreation Supervisor Sonja Howard, Senior Center Supervisor Jake Murphy, Rec
Specialist/Aquatics Cody Grimes, Rec Specialist/Programs Alex Harvey and Special Events
Coordinator Chance Boyd.
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Vice Chairman John Raab asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from
the April 5, 2021 regular meeting. Roger Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Jason Reyes. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—J.A. Carr Park & Kiddy Carr: Not present.
b. Magen Brown —Heritage Park & South Euless: No items to report.
c. John Raab—Midway Park & Blessing Branch: No items to report.
d. Kay Seger—Villages of Bear Creek& Reflection: No items to report.
e. Roger Sickler- Preserve & McCormick: No items to report.
f. Jason Reyes-West Park &Wilshire: No items to report.
g. Isha Sharma - Bob Eden Park &Trailwood: No items to report.
h. Chairman Jones—Parks at Texas Star: Not present.
i. Chance Boyd reported on the following Special Events:
• April 17, 2021, Kites over Euless. 165-175 citizens present. 65 trees were handed
out and 6 trash bags of liter were picked up.

• May 01, 2021, Coffee in the Park. 10 people attended.
• May 08, 2021. Bike Night will be held at Villages of Bear Creek.
III. Beautification Award of the Month
a. Vice Chairman Raab announced the May, 2021 Residential Beautification Award of the
Month goes to Debra Morris at 614 Bocowood. This beautiful corner lot is extremely
well maintained and designed. They have a vast landscape with a variety of trees,
shrubs, colorful flowers, plush green grass and landscape rocks. Their landscape
includes Bonsai Juniper trees, small Texas Mountain Laurel Trees, Texas Sage bush,
Japanese Maple trees, multiple varieties of Yucca & Cactus Plants, Roses, Desert
Willows and Spanish Broom Plant. In addition to the beautiful plants, they also have a
very well-maintained front lawn that is green and full.
b. Vice Chairman Raab announced the May, 2021 Business/Civic/Governmental
Beautification Award of the Month goes to Witt Chiropractic at 503 W. Euless Blvd.
This business has Yopawn Holly, Nandina, Ornamental Grass, Boxwood and Burford
Holly.
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for (April 2021):
a. Total man hours for April 1—April 30m 2021—Total =460
• 404 Horticulture
• 34 Forestry
• 10 Greenhouse
• 0 Special Projects
• 12 Training
➢ Trimmed trees at McCormick Park
➢ Trimmed trees at Star Center and PATS
➢ Trimmed trees along Bob Eden trail
➢ Trimmed trees and shrubs at Library and City Hall
➢ Gave away 65 trees at the Kites Over Euless event
➢ Began color changeout and pruning of beds throughout the entire city
➢ Irrigation training for Randy Leach and Daniel Dearborn

• Jake Murphy gave an overview of the Senior Center re-opening. Jake reported that
swim lessons will return back to their regular schedule on June 07, 2021.
• Jake Murphy and Cody Grimes passed out a training schedule and invited all Park
Board members to attend the pre-season lifeguard training.
• Alex Harvey gave an overview on Summer Camp as well as classes at the Euless
Family Life Center.
• Daniel Dearborn gave an update on the color change out of city buildings as well as
the mowing of the complexes. Daniel also gave an update of the exercise stations
at Bob Eden Park.
b. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Ray updated Park Board on the replacement of exercise equipment at Bob Eden
Park.
• Master Plan Discussion.
Vice Chairman Raab thanked the staff for their reports.
VI. Other New Business
No new business.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
No new business from visitors.
ADJOURNMENT
Roger Sickler gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was
adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
