Councilmen present were Messrs. M. L. Anders, J. S. Anderson, W. H. Fuller, Ernest Millican, Jr., and A. E. Tillery. Meeting with the council as legal advisor was Mr. Geo. P. Gleeson, City Attorney. Also present was Mr. Gray, our recently appointed judge. The primary purpose of the meeting was to explain the purpose and legality of the City Council's action in the annexation of the E. S. Cromer, et al, properties by adoption of Ordinance No. 35, annexing said territories. Personally seeking such information and expressing a desire to be de- annexed was Mrs. Gilliland accompanied by a m u l t i t u d e of residents and non residents, a l l concerned in some way. Mrs. Gilliland asked to see the` petition whereby they were taken into the City of Euless. She was shown the petition and Mr. Gleeson read the law providing for such action. Concluding the public hearing, Mrs. Gilliland presented a list of 16 names who claimed to be resident, qualified voters at the time of the annexation and did not vote for annexation. M r . Gleeson was given the l i s t that he might verify its accuracy at which time Mrs. Gilliland would be contacted and given any further information that might be available. Mr. Oxford, a resident of the territory in question, asked that the individual members of the council state their feelings concerning de- annexing the territory if a majority of the residents (residents as of now 90 on record as favoring deannexation. The request Was not complied wi h because, first, it was a matter that required much study and secondly, it was not a thing to be settled locally by the City Council of Euless, but would likely have to be determined by the state laws. After the public hearing was dismissed, the council conferred with Mr. Gleeson on the Johnson - Campbell plat submitted to the City March 21 for approval. On the combined advice of Mr. Robinson, the engineer and Mr. Gleeson's legal opinion, the plat as submitted was rejected by the city and Mr. Gleeson was instructed to so notify Johnson - Campbell setting forth the objections. Mr. Gleeson's authority was granted in the form of a motion by Councilman Millican, seconded by Councilman Anders, that Mr. Gleeson be given such authority. The vote was unanimous for the motion. 124 Pape Two, Regular Meeting, Euless Citv Council, March 30, 1956) Mr. Gleeson was also, by consent of the council, instructed to make the necessary publication of the request of Mr. t H.
