HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-04-30127 Called Meeting Euless City Council April 30, 1956 The Council met in a called session on April 30, 1956. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jimmy Payton. Councilmen present were Messrs. J. S. Anderson, W. H. Fuller and Ernest M i I I ican, Jr. Meeting with the Council for various purposes were Attorney George Gleeson, Messrs. McCain, Swor, Emmons, Jones, Palmer and Duncan. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Millican, Ordinance No. 51, rezoning lot 13 in the Euless Gardens Addition to the City of Euless for commercial use as had been requested by Mr. McCain, was unanimously adopted. Due to the lack of a full council and insufficient information for those men applying for a contract to remove the garbage in the City of Euless, Mayor Payton advised those concerned that a copy of Ordinance No. 43, garbage disposal ordinance, would be sent each as soon as they could be printed. And that each applicant should study the provisions of the ordinance, then make informal application for a contract or permit and present it at the next meeting of the Council, May 14, 1956, at 7 =30 p.m., at which time some disposition would be made of the business. Mr. Jones, now collecting the garbage for the City of Euless under temporary permission from the Council, was instructed to furnish the City of Euless with a copy of Certificate of P o l i c y , i n d i c a t i n g h i s extend o f l i a b i l i t y insurance and making the City of Euless joint beneficiary. Mr. Gleeson explained to the Council the status of the suit by Johnson - Campbell against the City of Euless and advised the adoption of Ordinance No. 50, Street Improvement Ordinance, which in its purpose is to make sure that streets shall be paved, curbed and guttered or otherwise meet the requirements of this and other ordinances. A motion was offered by Councilman Millican and seconded by Councilman Fuller that the Council adopt Ordinance No. 48 annexing the W. W. Lynch property out of the R. Crowley survey, as petitioned by Mr. W. W. Lynch. The adoption was unanimous. A similar motion by Councilman Fuller and seconded by Councilman Anderson was unanimously adopted accepting the annexation as provided in Ordinance No. 49, petitioned by 0. S. Dobkins, owner, being a part of A. Bernard Survey. The City Secretary was instructed to 1. Send a key to Mr. Knarr to enter the Council room through the secretary's office. 2. Notify the u t i l i t y companies no permanent service u n t i l builder has Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Euless. 3. Mail or send copies of Ordinance No. 43, Garbage Disposal Ordinance, to men requesting them. Mayor Payton. ATTEST: /s/ Thos. A.
