A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EULESS REQUESTING THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO LET THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE STATE HIGHWAY 360 MAIN LANE
IMPROVEMENTS BETWEEN STATE HIGHWAY 121 AND MID - CITIES
BOULEVARD IN FY2003 AND BETWEEN MID - CITIES BOULEVARD
AND STATE HIGHWAY 183 IN FY2004
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation is currently completing the
design of the State Highway 360 Main Lane Improvements between State Highway 121
and State Highway 183; and
WHEREAS, the State Highway 360 Frontage Roads are at or have exceeded
their functional capacity; and
WHEREAS, the increasing traffic volumes on the State Highway 360 Frontage
Roads contribute to the decline in safety on these frontage roads; and
WHEREAS, traffic safety is a primary concern throughout the State Highway
System; and
WHEREAS, construction of the State Highway 360 Main Lane Improvements will
significantly reduce the traffic volumes on the frontage roads and improve safety and
traffic flow on the frontage roads.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EULESS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
That traffic volumes on the State Highway 360 Frontage Roads from State
Highway 121 to State Highway 183 constitute an unsafe condition during the morning
and evening peak traffic periods.
SECTION 2
That the City Council of the City of Euless supports the Texas Department of
Transportation plan to construct the Main Lane Improvements of State Highway 360
from State Highway 121 to State Highway 183,
SECTION 3
That the City Council of the City of Euless urges the Texas Department of
Transportation to expedite the State Highway 360 Main Lane Improvements by letting a
construction contract for the section from State Highway 121 to Mid - Cities Boulevard in
FY2003 followed by letting a construction contract for the section from Mid - Cities
Boulevard to State Highway 183 in FY2004.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED at the regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the
25th day of June, 2002, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 0
abstentions.
