Parks and Leisure Services Board
Monday, December 2, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:02 P.M. on
Monday, December 2, 2013, in the Park Maintenance building by Chairman Owens. Other Board
Members present: John Raab, Randy Jones, Carroll Scott, Tiffany Smith and alternate Steve Doty.
Members absent: alternate Carl Miller.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Randy Smith, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, and Administrative Secretary Jordan
Peterson.
Visitors present: Loretta Doty, Roger Sickler, and Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg.
INVOCATION
Randy Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
November 4, 2013 regular meeting. Steve Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by John Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—J. A. Carr Park, Kiddie Carr Park, Villages of Bear Creek Park— No items to
report.
b. Randy Jones—South Euless Park, Heritage Park, Reflection Park—No items to report.
c. John Raab—Parks at Texas Star—No items to report.
d. Tiffany Smith—Bob Eden Park,Trailwood Park—No items to report.
e. Carroll Scott — Preserve at McCormick Park, McCormick Park— Reported fence screws
protruding from the fence—could be hazardous.
f. Chairman Owens—West Park, Wilshire Park— No items to report.
g. Carl Miller—Midway Park& Blessing Branch Park—Member absent

IV. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Carroll Scott reported the following for November:
a. Total man hours for November 1—November 30 = 613
• 118.00 Horticulture
• 167.00 Forestry
• 120.00 Greenhouse
• 200.00 Special Projects
• 8.00 Training
• Planted a Pecan tree at the Historical Tree grove for first annual Texas Arbor Day.
• Purchased a Christmas tree for the log house.
• Trimmed up trees at Bob Eden Park.
• Removed dead trees at J.A. Carr parking lot.
• Planted three trees at Villages of Bear Creek — Sweet Gum, Bald Cypress, and Live
Oak.
• Removed fallen limbs in Trailwood Park, McCormick Park, The Preserve, and
Villages of Bear Creek.
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Reported on the upcoming parade this Saturday at 6:30 P.M.
• Heritage Park Christmas will be Saturday, December 14, from 1-5 P.M.
• January 4t" will be open house for the Euless Family Life Center.
• Playbook mail out was successful.
b. Parks Report—Randy Smith
• Christmas tree recycling will be from 10 A.M. -1 P.M. on January 4.
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Discussed trail maintenance
• Master plan should be prepared and ready for the next meeting to present.
VI. Other New Business
No other new business.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg announced that he would not be running for City Council next term.
