Minutes
December 9, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bill Golden called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. The meeting was held at the Texas
Star Golf Course, 1400 Texas Star Parkway.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Michelle Burger, Bill Byers,Joe Cannon, Barbara Collier, Iris Elliott, Gary
Fieldsend, Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Don Martin, David Massey,Veva Lou Massey, Shirley Mercer,
Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford, Helen Voss and Mavy Wright.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS
Mayor Mary Lib Saleh, Mayor Pro tern Leon Hogg, Council Member Linda Martin, Council Member
and Mrs. Glen Porterfield, Council Member Linda Eilenfeldt and Andy Weinspfel.
STAFF PRESENT
City Manager Gary McKamie, City Secretary Kim Sutter, Assistant City Manager Chris Barker, Deputy
City Manager Loretta Getchell, Parks and Community Services Director Ray McDonald and Projects
Coordinator Ofa "Mary" Faiva-Siale.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Don Martin made a motion to approve the minutes. Faye Stinneford seconded the motion, motion
approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported the beginning balance on November 11, 2013 was $10,634.74.
There were no expenditures and $283.58 in deposits. The balance as of December 9, 2013 was
$10,918.32.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. The following people volunteered to docent at the December open house: Bill Byers, Gary
Parker, Norma Lively, Shirley Mercer, Doris Brown, David Massey,Joe Cannon, Helen Payton,
Weldon Cannon, Iris Elliott, Perry Brockmeyer, Gary Fieldsend, Bill Golden and Mavy Wright. Bill
Golden offered to contact Tom and Sue Stover in case they would like to volunteer.
2. The following people volunteered to serve as docents during open house on Saturday,January
11, 2014: In the Museum (1-3 p.m.)Andy Weinspfel, Iris Elliott and Gary Parker (3-5 p.m.) Gary
Parker, David and Veva Lou Massey. At the Fuller House and Himes House (1-3 p.m.) Doris Brown
(3-5 p.m.) Mavy Wright and Helen Payton. Perry Brockmeyer will also work the Himes Log House.

STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition—Bill Byers discussed various objects acquired from Weldon Cannon.
2. Museum Sub-Committee—the committee works on various projects at the Museum every
Wednesday between 10 a.m. and noon.
3. Euless Marker Program—the barn marker has been installed.
4. Plaque Sub-Committee—Faye Stinneford has a couple of names to add to the plaque.
5. Library History/Genealogy Room—Betty Fuller and Barbara Collier will meet to review the
inventory at the Library. They will also review the inventory list that was done by staff.
6. Evolving History—Michelle Burger will be taking the Mayor's newsletter to display in Grapevine.
STAFF REPORTS
1. Staff reported the following:
• Post cards will be ready by the December open house.
• The live Christmas tree will be delivered to the Log House soon.
• Heritage Park is ready. The usual petting zoo, Blacksmith, Kettle Corn stand, arts and crafts
and free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided. Choirs have been acquired and
everything is ready.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
1. Reported that approval has been acquired to build a "Black Smith" shop at Heritage Park.
OTHER REPORTS
1. The Committee inquired about Mr. and Mrs. Nail. Mayor Saleh noted that the Nails are going
through a bit of a tough time and for the members to keep them in their prayers. Members
indicated their concern and care for the Nails.
2. Members noted that Homer's Bell has been installed and it looks beautiful.
3. Barbara Collier invited the members to pick up open house flyers to distribute to local
businesses. She reminded everyone to continue advertising open house to the public.
4. Everyone thanked Bill Byers and Gary Parker for redoing the photo display in the Military Room.
It's much more user friendly and looks great too.
5. The Mayor will be giving a tour of the Museum to Scott Bradley,former Mayor of Westlake on
Wednesday, December 11. Staff will be onsite in case anything is required.
6. Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg donated a brand new bedspread for the bed in Iva's Room.
7. Don Martin congratulated Bill Golden for being named Chairman of the Committee again.

8. Helen Voss thanked Barbara Collier for all her hard work at the Museum.
ADJOURNMENT
Gary Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Helen Voss seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11a.m.
