January 13, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bill Golden called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. The meeting was held at Euless City
Hall, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless,TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Gary Barnhill, Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Bill Byers,Joe Cannon, Barbara
Collier, Iris Elliott, Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David Massey, Veva Lou
Massey, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Peggy Vandiver and Andy Weinzapfel.Jan Bellamy and Mavy
Wright reported they couldn't attend today's meeting.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

STAFF PRESENT
Parks and Community Services Director Ray McDonald, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson,
Projects Coordinator Ofa "Mary" Faiva-Siale and Hal Cranor, Director of Public Works.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to approve the minutes. Iris Elliott seconded the motion, motion
approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The balance as of December 9, 2013 was $10,918.32.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. The following people served as docents on Saturday, January 11, 2014: Andy Weinspfel, Iris
Elliott and Gary Parker, David and Veva Lou Massey, Doris Brown, Mavy Wright, Helen
Payton and Perry Brockmeyer. There were about twenty-three visitors.
2. The following people volunteered to serve as docents during open house on Saturday,
February 8, 2014: Doris Brown, Norma Lively, Andy Weinzapfel, Gary Parker, Bill Byers, David
and Veva Lou Massey, Peggy Vandiver,Joe Cannon, Don Martin, Barbara Collier, Helen
Payton, Iris Elliot and Perry Brockmeyer.
SPECIAL REPORT
1. Hal Cranor discussed the Cullum Drive project. Work and construction is scheduled to begin
on January 20, 2014 lasting until September, 2014. The road should never be completely

closed to through traffic. There may be a rare occasion or so when it might happen, however,
one lane of the road will remain open at all times.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition—Bill Byers indicated that a Marine uniform has been acquired for the Museum.
2. Publicity Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier would like to meet with the members for new
advertising ideas.
3. Museum Sub-Committee—Everyone in the committee was invited to stop by and help with
various projects at the Museum on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and noon.
4. Euless Marker Program—Weldon Cannon is working on the write up for the Museum marker.
5. Display Sub-Committee—Andy Weinzapfel will email staff a write up for the fossil display.
6. Library History/Genealogy Room—A brief discussion was held regarding the displays at the
Library. There was an indication that the Library may need the display cases cleared in the
History room. Staff will invite the Library Administrator, Sherry Knight, to attend the February
meeting for clarification about the room use.
7. Photo Album Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier asked if Marilyn Long would chair the sub-
committee. Mrs. Long will work on the project.
8. Evolving History—Michelle Burger and Barbara Collier will meet to discuss various items
pertaining to the Sub-Committee's purpose, etc.
STAFF REPORTS
1. Staff reported the following:
• Will send the new members docent packets.
• Staff relocated wood that was stacked behind the Barn to the Parks shop.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
1. Tom and Sue Stover both passed away in December within a few days of each other.
2. Mentioned that archeologist, Art Sahlstein is open to speaking to the Committee either at
February's meeting or another day that would be more convenient for the Committee.
3. Passed around the current list of Sub-Committees for members to update their membership.
4. Indicated that other members could consider helping with the display signs at the Museum.
5. The old skating rink on South Main Street is on schedule to be bulldozed. Andy Weinzapfel
indicated the possibility of metal detecting the property.

OTHER REPORTS
1. Helen Payton reported that Iva Nail is now on Hospice. Members' prayers and thoughts are with
the Nails during this time.
2. Michelle Burger has been and will continue to take Euless information for display at other Cities
and location.
3. Barbara Collier discussed the following:
a. Wants clear descriptions of duties for each of the Sub-Committees.
b. First United Methodist Church of Euless will lose some of the land on the west and north
side of the property due to the construction of Highway 183. Andy Weinzapfel asked
permission to do metal detection on the land and Mrs. Collier is acquiring permission for
him to do so.
c. Had a description of the McCormick Barn and felt it wasn't "catchy" enough. Would like a
larger description on a raised background to make it look nicer.
d. Discussed the need to a purchase large quantity of black frames for use at the Museum.
The members were agreeable to the suggestion.
e. Proposed for the Committee as a whole to work on Barn display rather than just a few
people.
f. Proposed that a new campaign be launched to recruit new and/or younger members.
g. Discussed information about an upcoming workshop called "Can You Hear Me Now?"The
workshop will he held on February 7, 2014 and its $35 per person including lunch and
seminar information. A couple of people may be attending the seminar.
4. Andy Weinzapfel asked if maps can be provided at the Museum to help when providing tours to
citizens. Bill Golden will contact David Allen about a printout of a map. Gary Parker suggested
providing maps from different years.
5. Helen Payton asked if the exit door to the northeast bedroom in the Fuller House can be checked
for security.
6. Michelle Burger attended Tom and Sue Stover's funerals and they were very nice funerals.
7. Perry Brockmeyer gave a reminder that the Annual Stock Show will run from January 17, 2014 to
February 8, 2014.
ADJOURNMENT
Gary Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Helen Voss seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
