Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of
the September 5, 2013 meeting. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan Gibbs
seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed all of the visitors to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Stats continue to look good.
Sherry Knight introduced Eric Terry, Senior Reference Librarian.
Eric Terry commented on his work history with Arlington and commented on the changes that he and his
Reference staff have recently implemented.
The Mayor suggested that we have a"Name the Stingray" contest during the month of October. The children
can also draw a picture of their favorite fish and we are posting the pictures on the wall by the aquarium.
The Youth Department starts Homework Help on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday beginning October 1, 2013.
The DVD collection has been rearranged and we have increased the number of check-outs from 5 to 7.
Carolyn Hoaldridge will receive her 35-year pin at the Council Meeting on October Stn
The Library Staff is planning their entry into the Christmas Parade. The theme this year is Patriot Christmas.
The parade is December 7tn at 6:30p.m.
We are planning with Bobbie McFarland, ARTS Council Northeast, for the 2014 Masterworks Program. We
will be sharing some of the programs with Parks and Recreation and will be using the Amphitheater at Bear
Creek.
Sherry Knight commented on the "Request for Consideration" form and the library process for handling the
requests.

Sherry Knight handed out"18 Library Service Responses"to the board. Sherry, Eric, and Angela will review
over the next year.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee commented on his recent trip to Minnesota where he visited with two libraries.
2. Barney Snitz commented on the Sara Hickman performance.
3. Allan Gibbs reminded the board that the Friends of the Library Book Sale is November 15th, 16th, and
17th.
CITIZEN INPUT:
1. Jason Reyes is a library patron and wanted to visit with the Library Board.
2. LuAnn Portugal commented on the tile project.
3. Councilman Hogg commented on the progress of the indoor pool, the 183 Project, and the Aquatic Park.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by
Beverly Leake. The meeting was adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
