MEMBERS STAFF OTHERS Marcia Brown Sherry Knight LuAnn Portugal Loretta Doty Karan Jasper Carol Kveck Betty Fuller-absent Allan Gibbs Beverly Leake-absemt Chris McAllister Mike McGehee Barney Snitz Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of the October 3, 2013 meeting. Allan Gibbs made the motion to accept the minutes with corrections and Barney Snitz seconded the motion. WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed all of the visitors to the meeting. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: Stats continue to look good. Sherry introduced Carol Kveck to the board. Carol has volunteered in the Youth Department for 5 years. Sherry reminded the board of the Friends of the Library Book Sale on November 15th through the 17tH Essie Daugherty, Retired Library Employee, passed away on November 16, 2013. Beverly Leake asked that I announce that she has decided not to re-apply to the library board. 85 attended the Youth program"Spooky Stories Under the Stars." 67 attended the Youth program"Southwest Dairy Farmers'Mobile Dairy Classroom." The Youth Department participated with PACS "Trunk or Treat" on Halloween night. We prepared 750 bags to hand out and ran out within an hour. The library staff will build a float for the Parade of Lights. The theme is "A Patriotic Christmas" and the library float title is"Freedom to Read." The library staff is also planning a Cookie Exchange on December 11th. Everyone is invited to participate. Food for Fines is November 4th through 11 to Eric Terry, Senior Reference Librarian, suggested we add Blu-Ray DVDs to our collection. As a test, we purchased 15 to start. All 15 were checked out in less than a week. Page 2 Euless Library Board Minutes November 7,2013 DISCUSSIONS: 1. Mike McGehee likes the new format of the statistic report. 2. Allan Gibbs would like a-mails of the statistic report. 3. Barney Snitz welcomed Carol Kveck. Barney inquired about the Masterworks programs for 2014. CITIZEN INPUT: 1. Carol Kveck always wanted to work at a library and enjoys her time in the Youth Department. 2. LuAnn Portugal reminded the board that Jerry Poteet is looking for volunteers. ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Allan Gibbs.
