should begin early summer 2000.
There will be an entire reconstruc-
tion of Central Drive from Airport
Freeway north to Cummings. The
twelve-month reconstruction will
serve as a pilot program for the
citywide business corridor redevel-
opment plan. The City will work
with each of the business and prop-
erty owners along Central to en-
hance the look of the area through
landscaping and streetscaping.
Plans also include adding decora-
tive pavers at appropriate locations
along Central Drive to aesthetically
enhance the corridor.

Hurst Town Center
The City of Hurst continues to promote the Hurst
Town Center Development Area. The culmination of
several events and a blessing from the Hurst City Coun-
cil has made the development of the Hurst Town Cen-
ter a major priority. The renovation of the Hurst City
Hall and the construction of a new AmeriSuites Hotel
along with five sit down restaurants including
Italianni's, Abuelo's, Black Eyed Pea, Catfish and Com-
pany and Bronco's Sports Club serve as
the anchors for the Hurst Town Center.
In June 1999, the Hurst City Council unanimously
approved an ordinance to create a new and separate
Town Center zoning district. The Town Center will
encompass an 80 acre tract of land located north of
Airport Freeway, west of Precinct Line, and south of
Harwood Road. The district was created to provide a
site for entertainment and community events. The What is the HEB Economic

for driveways and/or pedestrian mini-malls and higher
densities to foster a more urban development.
The new Hurst Town Center plan hopes to maxi-
mize prime land values, freeway visibility and proximity
to Tarrant County College by promoting "around the
clock" land uses, activities, celebrations and events.
Two initiatives are currently underway to enhance
the Hurst Town Center. City staff is meeting with busi-
ness owners to organize a Town Center Business Asso-
ciation to encourage special events and outdoor activi-
ties. Also, the City of Hurst is in the process of hiring
an outside planning consultant to develop a formal
Master Design Plan that will include adding amenities
such as park benches, a clock tower, brick paving and
antique light poles.
