Parks and Leisure Services Board
February 3, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:01 P.M. on
Monday, February 3, 2014, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Eric Owens. Other Board Members present: Randy Jones, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty and Carl
Miller, and Roger Sickler. Members absent were John Raab and Carroll Scott.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Randy Smith, Parks Superintendent Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, and
Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Loretta Doty, Pastor Scott Fisher, and City Council Mayor Pro Tem Leon Hogg.
INVOCATION
Randy Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the January
6 regular meeting. Randy Jones made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by Tiffany Smith. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty—Midway Park& Blessing Branch: Reported no items of concern.
b. Randy Jones—Bob Eden Park&Trailwood: Reported no items of concern.
c. John Raab—Villages of Bear Creek& Reflection Park: Reported no items of concern.
d. Tiffany Smith—Kiddie Carr Park&J.A. Carr Park: Reported no items of concern.
e. Carroll Scott—Preserve at McCormick Park, McCormick Park: Not present.
f. Roger Sickler — West Park & Wilshire: Wilshire gate opened to Bristol Ave., speeding
cars through park.
g. Chairman Owens—Parks at Texas Star: Reported no items of concern.
h. Chairman Owens reported no special events in the month of January.

II. Volunteer of the Month
a. Chairman Owens said the February Volunteer of the Month award goes to Metroplex
Chapel Church and Pastor Scott Fisher. Metroplex Chapel Church has worked with the
city on many events in the past; including Arbor Daze, but most recently they helped
out in a big way for our Trunk or Treat event. They provided us with plenty of
volunteers; they also provided a huge bounce house, and bull riding attraction at their
own expense that was a big hit with all the kids. Pastor Fisher said he is glad that his
congregation can be a great help to our community.
Ill. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Vice Chairman Tiffany Smith reported the following for January:
a. Total man hours for January 1-January 31 = 579 hrs
• 153.00 Horticulture
• 181.00 Forestry
• 110.00 Greenhouse
• 130.00 Special Projects
• 5.00 Training
• 8 Tree Related Purchases
• 23 Trees Planted
• Planted Crape Myrtles at PATS.
• Transplanted Burr Oaks and Pecans at Euless Family Life Center.
• Held Christmas tree Recycling event with over 75 in attendance.
• Replanted PomPom Holly at Euless Family Life Center.
IV. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Discussed the influx of members to the Life Center due to new indoor pool.
• Updated on the fitness equipment being replaced at the Senior Center and
Recreation Center.
• Provided information on the Valentines events coming up.
b. Parks Report—Randy Smith
• Updated on the parking lot lights at Villages of Bear Creek Dog Park.
• Currently getting bids on painting the fence at Heritage Park.
• Irrigation work is complete at indoor aquatic center and senior center.
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Announced that the approval of the Master Plan will be on the March agenda.
• Discussed the existing accessibility barriers we are currently working on in our parks.
• Director's reports and comparison data to be presented at future meetings.
Chairman Owens thanked each of them for their reports.

ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Owens gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:49 P.M.
