A RESOLUTION APPOINTING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE
JUDGES FOR A JOINT ELECTION TO BE HELD BY THE
CITY OF EULESS AND THE HURST - EULESS- BEDFORD
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ON MAY 3, 2003
WHEREAS, the City of Euless and the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School District
have resolved to conduct joint elections pursuant to the provisions of the Texas Election
Code, and
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Euless, provide
that on May 3, 2003, there shall be elected the following officials for the City:
Council Member Place Five, for a three -year term
Council Member Place Six, for a three -year term
and the following members of the School District Board of Trustees:
Trustee Member, Place One
Trustee Member, Place Two
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1
Early voting by personal appearance for City Council Members, Place Five and Place Six
and for the Hurst - Euless- Bedford Independent School District Board of Trustees, Place
One and Place Two, will be conducted at the City of Euless Public Library, 201 N. Ector
Drive, Euless, Texas, weekdays from Wednesday, April 16 through Tuesday, April 29, from
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Applications
for ballots by mail for the Euless City Council Election shall be mailed to Susan Crim, City
Secretary, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless, Texas, 76039, to be received no later than 5:00
p.m., April 25, 2003. Applications for ballots by mail for the School Trustee Election shall
be mailed to Lynne Rigg, Deputy Superintendent of Business Operations, at HEB ISD
Administration Building, 1849 Central Drive, Bedford, Texas, 76022, to be received no later
than 5:00 p.m., April 25, 2003.
SECTION 2
Voting on Election Day, May 3, 2003, shall be conducted at two polling places, Bear Creek
Elementary School, 401 Bear Creek Drive, Euless, Texas, and the City of Euless Public
Library, 201 N. Ector Drive, Euless, Texas, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
SECTION 3
The following named persons are hereby appointed officers for said elections:
Euless Public Library: Election Judge Barbara Girouard
Altemate Shirley Hatchell
Bear Creek Elementary School: Election Judge Robert Carter
Altemate Judge Jennifer Carter
Early Voting Ballot Board Election Judge Martha Burleson
The Early Voting Ballot Board Judge shall appoint two qualified election clerks to serve and
assist in conducting the duties of the Early Voting Ballot Board.
The Presiding Election Judge for each precinct shall appoint not less than two nor more
than ten qualified election clerks to serve and assist in conducting said election; provided,
that if the Presiding Judge actually serves as expected, the Alternate Presiding Judge shall
serve as one of the clerks. All appointments shall be in accordance with the terms and
provisions of the Texas Election Code. Election judges shall be compensated for services
rendered at a precinct polling place at an hourly rate of $8 per hour, and election clerks
shall be compensated for services rendered at an hourly rate of $7.50 per hour.
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 8th day of April, 2003, by
a vote of 7 ayes 0 nays, and 0 abstentions.
