A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS RECOGNIZING MAYOR
PRO TEM LEON HOGG AND DEDICATING THE LEON HOGG
AMPHITHEATER AT THE VILLAGES OF BEAR CREEK IN HIS HONOR.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas desires to recognize Leon
Hogg for 18 years of public service while serving as a member of the Euless City Council; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in the Great State of Texas, and a Euless resident since
1963, he dedicated a great deal of his time as a dedicated and active volunteer of the city in one
capacity or another; and
WHEREAS, he and his wife, Jan, raised their children in the city and were active in the
Euless Girls Softball Association for 12 years, serving as President for 11 years; and
WHEREAS, during his service to the Association, he worked hand-in-hand with the
Parks Board to ensure improvements to the city's softball facilities; and
WHEREAS, before being elected to the City Council in May 1996, Mr. Hogg served as
Chairman of the Parks Board for eight years; and
WHEREAS, while serving on the City Council, he served on the Animal Shelter Advisory
Board and the Crime Control and Prevention District Board. Additionally, he served as the
Council representative to the HEB Economic Development Foundation, and previously served
on the Half-Cent Sales Tax Education Committee; and
WHEREAS, after completing six, three-year terms as a member of the Euless City
Council and dedicating many years as a public servant, he has announced that he will not seek
a seventh term on the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EULESS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1.
The City Council of the City of Euless wish to recognize and honor Leon Hogg for his
many years of volunteer service in and to the City by dedication of the Leon Hogg Amphitheater
at The Villages of Bear Creek.
SECTION 2.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage, as the
law and charter in such cases provide.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 25th
day of March 2014, by a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, and 1 abstention.
