CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bill Golden called the meeting to order at 10:01 a.m.The meeting was held at Euless
City Hall, 201 North Ector Drive, Euless,TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Bill Byers,Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon,
Barbara Collier, Gary Fieldsend, Bill Golden, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, David
Massey, Veva Lou Massey, Shirley Mercer, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford, Peggy
Vandiver, Helen Voss, Andy Weinzapfel and Mavy Wright.
RECOGNITION OF VISITORS
Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg and Mayor Mary Lib Saleh.
STAFF PRESENT
Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Director of Parks and Community Services Ray
McDonald, City Manager Gary McKamie and Projects Coordinator Ofa "Mary" Faiva-Siale.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Barbara Collier indicated that the name of the First United Methodist Church of Euless is now
officially changed to the Euless First United Methodist Church. Don Martin made a motion to
approve the minutes. Faye Stinneford seconded the motion, motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasure Mavy Wright reported a beginning balance of$11,618.94.There were $730.20 in
expenditures and $325 in deposits, making the ending balance $11,213.74.
GUEST SPEAKER
Mayor Mary Lib Saleh discussed the history of the Euless Historical Preservation Committee
from its beginning to present and also discussed the Committee's mission. She also shared a
very interesting letter that was written by Troy Fuller that briefly touched on the acquisition of
the Himes Log House. Everyone appreciated the Mayor's insight to the history of the Euless
Historical Preservation Committee.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. The following people signed up to serve as docents during Arbor Daze on Saturday, April 26
and 27, 2014: Shirley Mercer, Doris Brown, Gary Parker, Bill Byers, Norma Lively, Gary
Fieldsend, Dan Burger, Michele Burger, Marilyn Long, Faye Stinneford, Bill Byers, Helen
Voss, Andy Weinzapfel, Bill Golden, Michele Burger, Joe Cannon, Barbara Collier, Helen
Payton and Mavy Wright.

2. The following people volunteered to serve as docents during open house on Saturday, May
10, 2014: Bill Byers, Gary Parker, Marilyn Long, David and Veva Lou Massey, Gary Fieldsend,
Peggy Vandiver, Norma Lively, Doris Brown, Dan and Michele Burger and Perry Brockmeyer.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Museum Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier invited everyone to come to the Museum on
Wednesdays between 10 am and noon to help with various projects.
2. Blacksmith Shop—Bill Golden indicated that he and others in the Committee will go view
Grapevine's blacksmith shop for ideas on how to build Euless' blacksmith shop.
3. Euless Marker Program—Weldon Cannon reported the following:
a. Would like to apply for a marker for the Ross Cannon house.
b. Norma Lively wrote the marker for the Euless First United Methodist Church.
c. The Arch Cannon marker is stored at Heritage Park until it can be posted.
4. Publicity Sub-Committee—Barbara Collier discussed the following:
a. Asked the members to click "like" and click the "share" button on the Committee's
Facebook page in order to promote awareness about the Historical Committee.
b. Reminded members to put out their open house signs a few days before open house.
c. Open house flyers are available for members to display at local businesses. Mrs. Collier
encouraged everyone to pick up a flyer from the Museum.
d. Asked Bill Byers if the bank is still able to display open house information on their digital
sign? Mr. Byers will ask the Bank.
e. Michele Burger has been putting out Euless Heritage Park information at the Grapevine
visitor's station.
f. Asked about the status of the brochure. Staff is working on redoing the whole brochure
to make sure it's updated and current.
5. Evolving History—Michele Burger reported the following:
a. Rebecca's Wholesale has moved out of the old skating rink on South Main Street to the
old Army Navy building in Hurst.
b. Barbara Collier asked if Mrs. Burger photographed the area near Church's Chicken on
Harwood Road. There's a very large facility going up at the location.
6. Photo Album Sub-Committee—Marilyn Long discussed the following:
a. Will be meeting with the Sub-committee at 1:30 pm today to organize a format, etc. for
running the Sub-Committee. She indicated the need to prioritize the wants of the
Committee regarding the scrapbooks.
b. Expressed some concerns about the public tearing out or removing original pages from
the collection. Copies can be made, free of charge at the Museum.
c. Indicated her desire to remain as the Co-Chairman to Betty Fuller's Chairman of the Sub-
Committee. Mrs. Fuller is excited about the work and Mrs. Long expressed her desire to
maintain Mrs. Fuller's continued support and involvement in the Committee. Bill Golden
requested that Mrs. Long take on the role of Chairman. A brief discussion was held
regarding the request.

7. Plaque Sub-Committee—Faye Stinneford reminded everyone that in order to get a name on
the memorial plaque, a donation of$25 must be received. She'll be adding Barbara Collier's
name to the Vice-Chairman's plaque soon.
8. CPR Training—Marilyn Long indicated the need for CPR training to be done so Committee
members can use the AED machine if the need ever arises. Staff and Mayor Pro Tern Leon
Hogg indicated that the AED machine in the Museum do not require CPR training in order to
work the machine. In addition, as the Committee is a volunteer group, the members can't
be expected nor be required to take these types of classes. It was also noted that a CPR
class was scheduled with the Fire Department per the Committee's request two months
prior but only Gary Parker signed up for the class.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
1. Bill Golden reported and/or discussed the following:
a. Robert Nail was in the hospital but is now at home.
b. Been in contact with a group called the Buttermilk Junction who dresses up in old
costumes and performs at local historical venues.They indicted to Mr. Golden that they
would like to perform at Heritage Park.
c. Reported that Cane's Chicken called him and offered to provide free lunch during one of
the Committee's work days. He asked for the Committee's opinion on a day and he will
make the arrangements.
STAFF REPORT
1. Staff reported the following:
a. Discussed Arbor Daze, Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg's retirement and the Mayor's
retirement.
b. Will provide the historical banner and make up signs for the displays at Arbor Daze.
c. Arbor Daze parking passes was handed out to members.
COMMITTEE/OTHER REPORTS
1. Helen Payton has a new great-granddaughter. Everyone congratulated her.
2. Michele Burger and a group from the Senior Center will be performing on the Fort Worth
Star-Telegram Stage on Sunday at Arbor Daze.
3. Peggy Vandiver noted that no one came in to the Fuller House during the time she served as
a docent at open house. Members indicated that about twenty-five people visited that day.
4. It was reported that Iris Elliot was admitted to the hospital. Everyone wished for Mrs. Elliot
to get well soon.
5. Andy Weinzapfel reported that about 98% of the Euless First United Methodist Church
property has been metal detected. He will display some of the items that were found at
Arbor Daze.

6. Weldon Cannon loaned various pieces about aviation from his personal collection to an
exhibit being displayed in Fort Worth. He invited the members to attend the exhibit if
possible. He also spoke with the Mayor regarding loaning/ borrowing exhibits between
entities and thought it was not doable at this time. Staff will research loaning/borrowing
processes used by other City museums and report back to the Committee.
7. Don Martin reminded the Committee to vote. Linda Martin is running for Mayor.
8. Faye Stinneford reported that the Citizens Fire Academy is holding their fundraising at Fire
Station #3 on Saturday, May 17, 2014. She's selling tickets for the fundraising for$15 per
person, catered by Outback Steakhouse.
9. Arbor Daze—Barbara Collier discussed the following:
a. Need two screens to display the 60 Years of Memories video and the historical slide
show. Staff will look into acquiring monitors for the Committee to use.
b. Will take one of the smaller display case, several hand built display stands, photos,
artifacts, etc.to display.
c. Set up will be on Friday, will need several tables and chairs for other displays. Staff will
provide these items.
d. Doris Brown suggested that the Committee Wish List be posted at Arbor Daze. Barbara
Collier will post the list.
ADJOURNMENT
Gary Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Faye Stinneford seconded the motion.
Motion approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
