HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-1432 05-13-2014 RESOLUTION NO. 14-1432 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EULESS GRANT APPLICATION FOR TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM (TAP) FUNDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES WITHIN THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS. WHEREAS, as part of the long range planning efforts of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), the Regional Veloweb has been adopted as part of the Mobility 2013 Plan; and WHEREAS, the Veloweb is a designated off-street trail network planned to provide bicycle and pedestrian connections throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and a portion of the Veloweb lies within the City of Euless, Texas; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless Trail System Master Plan is in place, and a portion of this trail system is also that portion of the Veloweb at the State Highway 121 and State Highway 157 merge area, near Mid-Cities Boulevard; and WHEREAS, this section of trail will run along Little Bear Creek, underneath five highway bridges, all of which lie within the State of Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) right-of-way for State Highway 121 and State Highway 157; and WHEREAS, the trail will connect to the west of the Bob Eden Trail and will continue west through the Glade Park development, to a terminus at Heritage Boulevard where it will connect to a future City of Colleyville trail along Heritage Boulevard; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless supports funding for the minimum 20% match provided by City as required as part of this grant application; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless commits to coordinating with TxDOT on the projects development, implementation, construction, maintenance, management, and financing; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless is willing and able to enter into an agreement with TxDOT should the project receive funding; and WHEREAS, the deadline for submission is May 30, 2014 with an anticipated selection in the fall of 2014; and WHEREAS, the City of Euless is submitting a grant application for Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding for this trail to the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Texas Department of Transportation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT: The City Council of the City of Euless supports the Euless grant application for Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding for segments of the Regional Veloweb System that lie within the City of Euless. APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Euless City Council on the 13th day of May 2014, by a vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions. APPROVED: / / A . � I/ ! .
