Parks and Leisure Services Board
May 5,2014
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 PM on
Monday, May 5, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Owens.
Other Board Members present: John Raab, Randy Jones, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty, Carl Miller.
There were no members absent.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks
Superintendent Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, and Administrative
Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Loretta Doty, Mayor Pro Tern Leon Hogg, Phillip Sleeman, Beau Clem GM of
Fuzzy's Tacos, and Stanley Coon.
INVOCATION
Randy Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the April 7,
2014 regular meeting. Randy Jones made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Tiffany Smith. The vote was unanimous.

b. Randy Jones—Bob Eden Park&Trailwood—No items to report.
c. John Raab — Villages of Bear Creek, Reflection, Preserve, McCormick — No items to
report.
d. Tiffany Smith—Kiddie Carr&J.A. Carr Park—No items to report.
e. Roger Sickler—West Park & Wilshire—Trip hazard on field 1, slide at West Park needs
more chips added.
f. Carl Miller—Heritage&S. Euless Park—No items to report.
g. Chairman Owens—Parks at Texas Star—No Items to report.
h. Chairman Owens reported on the following Special Events:
• Arbor Daze,April 26& 27—very successful, great turnout

II. Volunteer of the Month
a. Chairman Owens announced the May 2014 Volunteer of the Month award goes to
Phillip Sleeman. Phillip has helped the City of Euless PACS department for numerous
years with Arbor Daze and always calls far in advance to make sure he is signed up. He
thoroughly enjoys working in the forestry tents helping to get all our tree's passed out
to each and every person who attends Arbor Daze. This year, Phillip arrived to the site
extra early in order to pick up trash over the entire site. Phillip thanked the board and
staff for the award and said he was happy to help.
III. Beautification Award of the Month
a. Chairman Owens announced that the May 2014 Residential Beautification Award of
the Month goes to Stanley and Betty Coon at 1809 Summit Ridge.This property has a
well-manicured lawn, with neatly trimmed Oak and Pecan trees.There are many
blooming Azaleas, with Delphiniums, Hostas, ivies and many other bedding plants. It is
evident that these homeowners have worked very hard to keep their yard in tip top
condition. Mr. Coon thanked the board for their recognition.
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Vice Chairman reported the following for April 2014.
a. Total man hours for April 1—April 30= 795.00
• 302.00 Horticulture
• 68.00 Forestry
• 75.00 Greenhouse
• 350.00 Special Projects
• 00.00 Training
• Trimmed trees at Villages of Bear Creek Park.
• Worked with CPR on trimming trees.
• Gave away over 1500 Red Oak trees for Arbor Daze.
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Summer camp lottery is running smoothly.
• Splash pad opened May 1st, S. Euless, Wilshire, and EFLAP are getting ready to open.
• Senior Center is partnering with 6Stones and QT to provide free sandwiches at the
Senior Center.
• Special events coming up: Saturday, May 17—Movie in the Park(Finding Nemo)
Thursday, May 29- Masterwork Concert(Vocal Trash)

b. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• May 13th, City council public hearing for PACS agenda items.
• Thanks to Leon Hogg for his continued support over the years.
Chairman Owens thanked them for their reports.

VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
No comments.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Owens gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:41 P.M.
