Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Mike McGehee asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the April 3, 2014 meeting. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Chris
McAllister seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed LuAnn Portugal and Steve Doty to the
meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Stats continue to look good.
Sherry Knight reported on the Summer Reading programs. May 29th is the SRC Kick-off at the Leon Hogg
Amphitheater at Bear Creek with"Vocal Trash." The program starts at 6:30pm.
Sherry Knight also reported that this year we are offering on-line registration for the SRC. The elementary age
group can register through"Fizz Boom Read" and the Adult SRC can register through"Literary Elements."
Sherry gave a demonstration of how to register for SRC to the library board.
The Youth librarians have been to several of the schools to promote the SRC and other programs we offer. All
of the schools in Euless will be visited before the end of the school year and before the SRC begins.
Two librarians, Eric Terry and Angela Jones, attended the TLA Conference in San Antonio. Sherry Knight
attended one of the days and was able to visit the Bexar County Bibliotech while attending TLA. Sherry took
photos of the library and shared the pictures and information with the library board.
Arbor Daze was a big success for the library. The gate count for Saturday was 3400 and the gate count for
Sunday was 1300. Mayor Saleh,the library staff, and library visitors enjoyed being a part of the Flash Mob on
Saturday.
Sherry reports the city will be hosting a reception for Mayor Saleh at the library on Friday, May 16tH

DISCUSSIONS
1. Mike McGehee commented on much he enjoyed being a part of Arbor Daze with the library and the
library staff.
2. Carol Kveck commented on the Arbor Daze events at the library.
3. Chris McAllister also commented on all of the hard work the staff put into making Arbor Daze a success
at the library.
4. Barney Snitz commented on the Arbor Daze T-shirt display.
5. Loretta Doty reported that ELF raised $1610.10 for the Books for Troops during Arbor Daze. That
amount will allow them to send 70 boxes of books to the troops. Loretta also commented on the
children's artwork on display in the library.
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
1. LuAnn Portugal commented on Arbor Daze at the library and inquired about the digital books.
2. Councilman Leon Hogg commented on Arbor Daze and e-books.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Chris McAllister and seconded by
Marcia Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
