Parks and Leisure Services Board
September 13, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:03 p.m. On
Monday, September, 13, 2021, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by
Chairman Jones. Other Board Members present: Magen Brown, Steve Doty, Kay Seger, Isha
Sharma. Members absent: John Raab, Roger Sickler and Jason Reyes.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Recreation
Superintendent Elizabeth Johnson, Senior Center Supervisor Jake Murphy and Administrative
Secretary Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: Keya Davani
INVOCATION
Chairman Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the June 07,
2021 regular meeting. Steve Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by Magen Brown. The vote was unanimous.

i. Chairman Jones reported on the following Special Events:
• September 17, 2021, Tee-rific Scavenger Hunt, Location Hints will be given
throughout the day.

• October 30, 2021, Trunk or Treat, Euless Family Life Center Parking Lot
• November 20, 2021, The Great Fall Scavenger Hunt, Hidden Rita's Merchandise on
the Trail System
• December 4, 2021, Parade of Lights 2021, Parade will take place on West Midway
Drive
II. Beautification Award of the Month
a. Chairman Jones announced the July, 2021 Residential Beautification Award of the
Month goes to Todd & Melinda Jach at 223 Canterbury Street. The landscape is well
maintained and has lots of curb appeal. On this property there are many plant species
that do well here in North East Texas such as Mondo Grass, Sun Shine Ligustrum, Dwarf
yaupon holly, Begonias and Red Petunias to add a pop of color.
b. Chairman Jones announced the July, 2021 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification
Award of the Month goes to The Enclave at Bear Creek Apartments at 855 E. Ash Lane.
This property has many different varieties of plants throughout its landscape and is full
of color. The species of plants are spiral point Juniper, Sweet Potato vine, Tropical
hibiscus Burford holly and large cedar elm trees.
c. Chairman Jones announced the August, 2021 Residential Beautification Award of the
Month goes to Todd & Jay Raniga-Jewett of 107 Millican Drive. This landscape is very
low maintenance and drought tolerant with many plant species such as Sunshine
Ligustrum, Maiden Grass, Hardy Hibiscus, Lantana with plush Bermuda grass.
d. Chairman Jones announced the August, 2021 Business/Civic/Governmental
Beautification Award of the Month goes to Miller Sierra Contractors at 1760 South
Pipeline. This business is well maintained and manicured with lots of drought tolerant
plants to offer. On this property there's large Bald Cypress trees, Little Gem Magnolia,
Sunshine Ligustrum Purple Leaf plum and dwarf Japanese yew with fresh mulch.
e. Chairman Jones announced the September, 2021 Residential Beautification Award of
the Month goes to Josh Dickerson of 506 Emerson. This landscape is very clean and
lots of curb appeal. The property is full of well-maintained plant species such as
coleus, Japanese Maple trees, variegated privet, boxwood shrubs, periwinkle plants
and large Red Oak Trees surrounded by plush St. Augustine grass.
f. Chairman Jones announced the September, 2021 Business/Civic/Governmental
Beautification Award of the Month goes to Cindy's Salon Studio at 3001 North Main
Street. This business is low maintenance and very drought tolerant. On this property
there are large trees through out and few plants such as Pampas grass, Cana, Burford
holly and Agave Cactus just to name a few.

III. Business of the Tree Board
Chairman Jones reported the following for June,July and August:

IV. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Staff Report—
• Elizabeth Johnson reported on the Walk the Chalk Event that was held on
September 10, 2021.
• Elizabeth Johnson presented the Special Events report. Upcoming events include,
Tee-Rific Scavenger Hunt, Trunk or Treat, Fall Scavenger Hunt and Parade of Lights.
• Elizabeth Johnson gave a recap on Summer Camp and the end of season at the
Aquatic Park.
b. Community Services Report— Ray McDonald
• Ray McDonald gave the Parks Report.
• Ray McDonald informed the board that the Wilshire Funding is available and that
the city entered a contract with GSBS starting FY22 (October 01, 2021).
• Ray McDonald addressed the staffing issues of the Aquatic Park and the Parks
Department.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.
