HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-06-03TEEN COURT ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES MEETING OF JUNE 3, 2021 STATE OF TEXAS § COUNTY OF TARRANT § CITY OF BEDFORD § The Teen Court Advisory Board of the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford, Texas met at 6:00 p.m. by video conference on the 3rd day of June, 2021 with the following members present: HURST: Bien Camungol EULESS: Robin Edwards, David Lawwill, Joe Robinson, Renu Sloan BEDFORD: Chris Morrison, Sara Steves TEEN REPRESENTATIVES: Hurst Council Liaison — Cathy Thompson Bedford Council Liaison — Cindy Almendarez Euless Council Liaison — Eddie Price HEB Teen Court Coordinator — Mindy Eichorst HEB Senior Teen Court Clerk — Also present: Hurst City Secretary — Rita Frick Euless Court Manager — Claudia Quintero Bedford Court Manager — Hurst Court Manager — HEB Teen Court Teen Liaison - Bedford Administrative Services Director - MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Kathleen Toms CALL TO ORDER Chairperson David Lawwill called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. with a quorum of seven Board Members present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consider approval of the following Teen Court Advisory Board minutes: a) March 23, 2021 Scholarship Committee Meeting b) April 1, 2021 Regular Meeting Robin Edwards made a motion to approve the March 23, 2021 scholarship committee and April 1, 2021 regular meeting minutes and Renu Sloan seconded the motion and all were in favor. 2. Introductions Introductions were done. Councilwoman Cindy Almendarez with the City of Bedford was introduced. OLD BUSINESS 3. Discuss Fundraising Options. Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst was able to download the video from the teens who volunteered their time for the recruitment video. It was uploaded to YouTube by a link and Chairperson David Lawwill will be able to attach it to the Fundly account. Chairperson Lawwill mentioned there were still a few more changes that were needed. Ms. Eichorst mentioned that Euless Police Chief Brown was ready to give the simulator gift certificates to HEB Teen Court. There will either be two gift certificates good for two people per certificate or one certificate for four people. There were several Advisory Board Members who asked for clarification on the certificates. NEW BUSINESS 4. Discuss, review, and possibly take action on the Teen Court Scholarship Application. Robin Edwards made a motion to table this item until the next Advisory Board meeting so everyone can to look over the application and Renu Sloan seconded the motion and everyone was in favor. 5. Discuss and possibly take action on a date for the next Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting. The next Teen Court Advisory Board Meeting will be on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via videoconference (Zoom). REPORTS Ms. Eichorst presented the Coordinator's Report for April and May 2021. Ms. Eichorst presented the Teen Court Scholarship Fund Report.
