TEXAS A Church with a world-wide vision sharing Christ with the whole wide world 11 September 1964 Mr. Lee Cowell City Manager City of Euless Dear Mr. Cowell: WAYNE L. LACAVA PASTOR JIM R. PURVIS MINISTER OF MUSIC Last Wednesday evening in a regular business conference of our church a unanimous vote was recorded supporting the action taken by our City Council this week in denying permission to operate a "private club" in the City of Euless where alcoholic beverages may be kept and served. I write this letter at the direction of our church. We realize that many forces are behind this move to bring liquor into our city on this basis. There are the ignorant who do not know what the presence and consumption of liquor can do to the moral, spiritual and economic standards of a community. There are the stubborn who will not face the facts about the destructive power of liquor and the natural results and consequences of an establishment such as the one proposed. There are the foolish who do not care about the homes that are broken and destroyed and the children whose lives and personalities are forever warped by growing up in a home split by alcohol. Then, there are the greedy who know all these things, but who stand to profit by the sale of liquor; those whose pockets will be lined with the money taken from Euless people and Euless homes. 1, and my people, intend action and to combat the my church can be of any Respectfully, W. L. LaCava to do everything in our power to support your forces that would corrupt our city. if I or assistance please call on us at once. J 'ere
