Parks and Leisure Services Board
October 04, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:58 p.m. On
Monday, October, 04, 2021, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones. Other Board Members present: Magen Brown, Steve Doty, Kay Seger, Isha Sharma, Roger
Sickler and John Raab. Members absent: Jason Reyes.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, and
Administrative Secretary Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: Council Member Jeremy Tompkins
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
September 13, 2021 regular meeting. Steve Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Roger Sickler. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Magen Brown — Heritage &S. Euless: No items to report.
b. Steve Doty—J.A. Carr & Kiddy Carr: No items to report.
c. John Raab— Midway & Blessing Branch: No items to report. •
d. Roger Sickler— Preserve & McCormick: No items to report.
e. Jason Reyes—West Park & Wilshire: Not present.
f. Kay Seger—Reflection &Villages of Bear Creek: No items to report.
g. lsha Sharma —Bob Eden & Trailwood: No items to report.
h. Chairman Jones—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
i. Chairman Jones reported on the following Special Events:
• October 29, 2021, Howl-O-Ween, Bear Creek Dog Park. Free treat bags for all dogs.
• October 30, 2021, Trunk or Treat, Euless Family Life Center Parking Lot.

II. Beautification Award of the Month
a. Chairman Jones announced the October, 2021 Residential Beautification Award of the
Month goes to Kraig & Elizabeth Kossuth at 514 Mack Drive. This landscape is very low
maintenance and drought tolerant with place species such as Japanese Maple, Crape
Myrtle Trees, Periwinkle, Purple fountain grass along with plush St. Augustine.
b. Chairman Jones announced the October, 2021 Business/Civic/Governmental
Beautification Award of the Month goes to Gala at Oak Crest at 100 Dickey Drive. This
business is well maintained and manicured with lots of drought tolerant plants to offer.
On this property there are many Crape Myrtle trees, Lace bark elms, Abelia Shrubs, Sea
Green Juniper and Salvia Greggii just to name a few.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Roger Sickler reported the following for September 1-30th, 2021:
a. Total man hours for September 1st—30th =460
• 177 Horticulture
• 181 Forestry
• 102 Greenhouse
• 0 Special Projects
• 0 Training
> Trimmed trees at Historic Tree Grove
➢ Trimmed trees at West McCormick
> Removed dead Water Oak at J.A. Carr Park
> Removed dead Cedar Oak at J.A. Carr Park
> Randy became a Certified Playground Safety Inspector

a. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Ray McDonald gave an overview on the Parks and Community Service Department
operations.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.

VI. Other New Business -
No new business.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Council member Jeremy Tompkins thanked Ray McDonald for the department operation
overview. Council member Tompkins gave praise to the Parks and Community Service
department for the work they do day in and day out.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no furthe usiness to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
